Please do the following to install the cartridge: 1.unscrew the pen's grip section from the barrel and pull out the ink converter. 2.insert the sealed end of the cartridge into the grip section until the seal is punctured and the cartridge slides firmly into place. Please upright the cartridge to wait for the ink to flow to the nib.

No, it is not waterproof, but, it will dry very quickly. If you touch the ink immediately after writing, will the ink is still wet, it will smear, so use care while writing especially in a journal. But the results are worth it. -- Beeluner Fountain pens write beautifully, I strongly prefer writing with this fountain pen, to any other pen I own. However, even if you wait several days after writing on a page, if you dab the dried ink with water, it will smear. Simply touching the dried ink with your dry fingers will never smear it.

You do not have to use Beiluner ink refills for your Beiluner fountain pen. You can use any international 2.4mm bore to 2.6mm bore ink refill from any company that sells them, I have used about 8 different ink colors thus far with my Beiluner fountain pens with success.
