Q: What are the measurements for each piece??

7" long, 4" high, 3/4" thick. Two such pieces lock together into a 90 degree angle (7" on each right angle side) The hypotenuse of that right angle is sqrt (49 + 49) inches, if you care :)

Q: what is the fastening hook made of?

The two pieces clip together to form a 90 degree angle with a sliding plastic clip. The angles are smooth on top and have a Velcro like bottom to grip trunk liner fabric. I keep a set in each of 2 cars for use in stabilizing shopping bags, cartons, and loose items.

Q: Is the set of 4 just 4 sides or 4 complete squares?

It depends upon which of the two items you purchase ... that's why the earlier answers seem to contradict themselves :) The "set of 2" has 4 pieces of plastic ... you can form two "L"s (each "L" has 2 pieces of plastic). The "set of 4" has 8 pieces of plastic ... you can form four "L"s.
