As long as your battery is less than two feet away, yes...

Where do you wire for power?

I wired it directly to the battery. I crimped connectors to the wires. You can calculate amp usage and add a fused wire to the positive connection

How reliable is the adhesive strip on the back of the light pod?

It sticks well to the light pod, but I can't seem to find any part of the underside of my hood that it'll stick to after cleaning with 50/50 water/Isopropyl Alcohol solution that I typically use for cleaning before mounting adhesives.
