A GREAT starting place for anyone that wants to write and publish a book!
I started with the Kindle and Audible versions of this book. I am a fast reader, but the content of this book was so interesting and useful, I finished the first read/listen in one evening.I plan to use this book as the basis for publishing a non-fiction book. The information is so thorough and valuable, I decided it would be worthwhile to order the paperback version. I have spent the past few days diving deep in the printed version, making highlights and notes in the margins. I will create my project plan from start to finish using the contents of this book.Unlike many books on self-publishing, this book is NOT a bait and switch to attempt to sell you expensive products and services. This book is all meat, no fluff!I HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone that has an interest in publishing their own book!

KERNS DELIVERS PUBLISHING GOLD BIG TIME
Sam Kerns delivers as he promises by writing a comprehensive how to guide about publishing a book on Amazon. I have read other author’s books on this topic and was disappointed and shocked at how incomplete and insufficient they were at explaining the actual publishing process (which is now all the more evident after reading Kern’s outstanding book). I wish I had bought this book first! In stark contrast, KERNS DELIVERS PUBLISHING GOLD BIG TIME with a book chock full of instantly usable, practical tips on writing, designing, formatting, publishing, and marketing a book — a true from A to Z one stop shop guide. He provides a wealth of online tools (found on Amazon and elsewhere) to use to get any new book closer to going to press. I have already started using many of his tips as I put the finishing touches on my own first book. I was especially intrigued with the TCK Amazon Book Sales Calculator, which is invaluable in gauging what the competitions’ sales are like. His section in producing an audio version of one’s book was exceptionally helpful. And his section on how to make foreign language translations of one’s own book is brilliantly useful and unique. I am raving about Kern’s book, because it’s that good. If you are considering authorship, definitely invest in this book!

Good book
I buy a lot of books about self publishing and I have to say that this one is one of the best. The others are good because they show the mechanics of how to write and publish a book. But they always leave out the marketing part. This book succeeds where others fail because it tells you how to market your book. Without a good marketing strategy you book will not sell. Sam laid out his strategy and shared other ones that people can use as well.If you're trying to write a book, or revive sales to an existing one, get this book.

Real Stuff
So many people have told me, "Just write books and sell them on Amazon! You'll make so much money!!" So of course, I'm thinking, " Yeah, easy money! " Then I began researching and found this book which made me realize how much there is to do in order to be successful. What I appreciate here is that I feel as though I am prepared for the real world of indie publishing. No gimmicks, no get rich quick schemes, just clear, honest, and concise advice. Kerns offers tips and links and honest information, and he is an experienced writer. If you are serious about doing this writing thing, I highly recommend this book. It has helped me to think realistically and given me tools. There is a lot of information that I will have to digest, but at least now I feel like I can at least start an effective to-do list!

Excellent Guide, Professionally Written & Edited
I have read, and reviewed, a wide variety of books for writers. Especially those for independent, self-publishing authors. Particularly, right now, as I phase out of reviewing and into writing and publishing, I am scarfing up lots of tomes on the craft. How does this 2016 offering, updated in 2019, match my needs? Read on to learn...BLUSH FACTOR: No worries here. Mind you, many folks will wonder why, for this category, I would bother with such a topic. Well, there is a lot of competition to reach every writer. A few of those entrepreneurs have chosen to use every possible expletive. Fortunately, in my opinion, Sam Kerns has kept his language appropriate to the task with no cute jokes or blasphemy or obscenities.WRITING & EDITING: Professional throughout. In fact, the editing is as polished as the most expensive big-house published books. Further, the smooth delivery of the content by the professional narrator (Anna Crowe) makes it possible, and immensely pleasurable, to continue receiving the information whether relaxing at home or commuting to work. Trust me, poor writing and poor editing makes for rotten audiobooks. Excellent writing and editing, coupled with a skilled professional voice actor makes learning fun and interesting.High points of the content: The author's frankness in sharing his successes and shortcomings helps. His admission of mistakes made with one particular book helps to highlight the need to conduct thorough research to determine if a market exists. There are several other useful tips based on his experience, but if I listed them here I would likely reduce your desire to read the book.EXCERPT'...Identify Your KeywordsEvery time someone goes to Amazon to look for a book, they type keywords into the search bar, and books that have those keywords in their title, description, or keyword list appear in the search results. This is true whether they’re looking for fiction or nonfiction books.Discovering which keywords people type into Amazon’s search bar will give you a pretty good idea of whether or not people are actively looking for your book topic because Amazon uses auto suggestions on its search bar to finish the phrases people begin typing in. But that’s not enough.Let me give you an example. Before I learned the complete method I’m about to teach you, I only used Amazon’s search engine for keyword research. So when I did keyword research for my food business book, I saw that people had looked for “food business,” “food business books,” and “how to start a food business.” I found this by typing in food and then looking at the suggestions listed below. In my naiveté, I assumed that because those suggestions came up, it meant a lot of people were looking for books on the topic. But that just wasn’t true. If I had taken the two additional steps outlined below, I would have realized that the book would only appeal to a small audience. In other words, while using Amazon’s search bar is a good start for your keyword research, it’s not enough. And the main reason for that is that while Amazon’s search bar will tell you that people are looking for books by using those keywords, it doesn’t tell you how many of them are doing so.Trust me; I discovered this the hard way...'Kerns, Sam. How to Publish a Book on Amazon in 2019: Real Advice from Someone Who’s Doing it Well (Work from Home Series: Book 5) (pp. 19-20). RainMaker Press. Kindle Edition.SHORTCOMINGS:I wish the author had included a little more data on obtaining reviews. While he does address the topic, the discussion is a bit too general and not as successfully highlighted as most other points. Perhaps, though, the 2020 update will explain this in more detail. He also is a little too worried about getting five star reviews, and about the impact of reviews on sales. Most readers seem to stay clear of books that have only five star reviews, because they are skeptical that such reviews are phoney or are posted only by fans and family of the author. Book buyers are looking for specific information, in my opinion.BOTTOM LINEFour stars out of five. Nearly 4-1/2 stars actually. I'm tempted to round up to five, but just cannot at this stage. BTW, in case you missed it, I definitely recommend adding the Audible Edition to your library. When you listen to Anna Crowe, you'll understand why Sam Kerns would be devastated, as he states, if he ever was forced to replace her for one of his titles.

Paperback text so small it is unreadable. No page numbers...
I laughed when I opened this paperback book which promises "Real advice from someone who's doing it well" because it is the worst formatted book I have ever seen - the writing is so small I can't read it (possibly font size 6-8) yet the margins (top and bottom) are enormous so the text could easily have been printed in a larger font. Also, the table of contents lists page numbers but there are no page numbers throughout the book.I paid £9.63 + postage for this unreadable paperback which has prompted another purchase - a magnifying glass. The author is certainly not "doing it well" in relation to the print version of his books.

A Great Place to Start a Self Publishing Career
A comprehensive review of all the steps you'll need to successfully, and cost effectively, self publish on Amazon in any format: Kindle, paperback and Audible. There are a ton of links to useful resource sites although there is a strong emphasis on US sites. But, as Kindle and Audible are internationally marketed this is often no bad thing. The emphasis is on practical steps to take with minimal waffle unlike some other books in this genre.Strongly recomended

Very Detailed Overview
I have just written my first non fiction book and have been just selling from my website so far. Deciding to look at other distribution channels like Amazon opens a whole new raft of things to learn and consider.Sam's book takes you step by step through the maze and carefully explains things to do and consider. Its been very helpful for me, glad I read it as it has saved me making a number of potentially expensive mistakes. Highly recommended book.
