Q: What batteries does it take? the picture shows a triple, aaa cartridge but the technical specs says 6 aa? any idea what size rechargeable one fits?

18650 or 3 x AAA in the carrier (I think they have cut and pasted from a larger torch)

Q: Can this torch be left in, and be immediately switched on at some later time, in strobe mode? (Without having to cycle through the 4 light modes)

it's off then each mode so you would have to turn it off before the strobe mode
