SOLOMARK Portable Stereo Microscope-20X-40X Lab LED Binocular Microscope with a Microscope Smartphone Adapter

I purchased this to use for a biology class I am teaching. It has worked perfectly. We used it as a dissecting microscope to see better detail on our specimens, or to watch live microscopic specimens. It may also be used to view slides, but I would only recommend this for elementary aged kids because magnification is limited. This would be an excellent first microscope for a kid. The quality and functionality of this microscope will ensure it may be used for years to come and far surpasses the plastic "my first microscope" that is only slightly cheaper.

This is a nice microscope for the money. It is not really a toy since it is all plastic, very light and does not seem very durable. It is good for an pre teen who can handle it gently or light use by an adult for hobbies etc. Nice optics and very clear image, lighting could be brighter. The smartphone attachment requires an excessive amount of adjustment.

Really nice toy for the money .

Ours arrived defective, but because it was a gift we didn't realize that until after the Amazon return period. The "Solomark" brand has no website in English, and if a Chinese one exists, I can't find it. There's no warranty or support information to be found anywhere.The particular defect ours has is that the eyepieces aren't aligned correctly. That is, the right and left eyes should be looking at the same thing from slightly different angles. With our 'scope, there's no way for that to happen -- no matter how you try to adjust it, the two eyes are looking at different places.Ironically, our daughter doesn't think it's broken. She's never used a stereo microscope before and doesn't know what to expect. She's just ignoring what she's seeing with her other eye, effectively turning this into a traditional microscope.

Great for introducing kids to microscopes. Easy to just grab something and take a look!

No complaints, does all I need it to do then some !!!

What's not to like if you want a microscope?

This Stereo microscope is rugged enough to be used by budding child scientists or taken into the field by working botanists for use as a dissecting scope. Image seems sharp across the focal plane. LED lighting makes it easy to use.
