it's brilliant
Car window mechanism failed in the down/open position on the wettest day of the year!!! Interior soaked. Bag of gel has stopped car fogging up.

Car Demister Silica Gel
The item seems to work well but we have still to try to regenerate the units. Hopefully, the bag containing the Silica gel will be long lasting. Time will tell.

Cat litter in a cheap sack
The "desiccant" I received came within a thin cotton-like sack. I weighed each 1kg upon delivery and was initially reassured becuase they weighed closer to 1.1kg. Anyway, the bags were purchased to remove moisture from my car after it developed a blocked drainage duct which saturated the carpet. After 3 weeks inside the car the floor was still soaking, The bags had been left on the wet carpet but had not soaked up much water despite almost direct contact to the moisture source. After weighing them again, each bag had increased in weight by just 150g or so.Along with the bags came instructions for recharging the "desiccant". Apparently all you have to do is place the bags within an over at 110-120 degrees (just above boiling point) for 3-4 hours to remove all of the moisture. I did exactly this but within 1 hour both bags split wide open spilling what looked and smelled like "cat litter" all over my oven.ConclusionThe bags are cheap and filled with cat litter. They certainly do not contain silica gel or other premium substances used within branded desiccants. The bags also included a moisture detection strip which simply did not work. The colour remained the same no matter the humidity. I feel ripped-off, not to mention the damage potentially caused to cars carpt.

isnt silica gel
The content of the bag is not silica gel and is at best some random silicate rock. Its similarities with silica gel are limited. It doesnt absorb moisture anywhere near as well as silica gel and when it gets wet turns into a strange mush. completely misslabelled and overpriced for what you actually get.

careful of the bag coming apart
works ok but be careful the bag will come apart in about a week contaminating anything that you are storing with this. the silica gel can still be used in a different container
