Wow, better coffee than I expected; smooth and flavorful
Your method for brewing coffee with these filters is very important to what you will get out of them. For this review, here is what I did. I eyeballed my coffee (using my usual coffee scoop) and water measurements as I am not that picky but my guesstimate goal is about 14-15g coffee to about 200g water. Water is just off boil. For this type if brewing method, I go for full immersion. I played with the paper holder things on the bag so that the coffee would sit close to the bottom of the cup but I could still safely remove the bag. I want the coffee to sit in the water, not just drain through. I poured water into the bag carefully, let it drain through and repeated until I felt I had added enough water—careful to not let the water level rise above that of the bag. I then let the coffee sit for about a minute before removing the bag. In my experience, just pouring water through an open filter like this bag with the bag on the top of the cup, as it is designed, will result in a weaker brew with little depth—IMO, the water is just not in contact with the coffee long enough. Review: I bought these bags with the idea of using them for travel and backpacking. I have used a cloth filter sold for backpacking in the past and was about to purchase another one for an upcoming family vacation when I stumbled across these paper filter bags. These are going to be lighter and far more convenient for my intended purposes. I have only made two cups so far, one from inexpensive, flavored store branded coffee that my wife likes and one from a quality, freshly roasted whole bean that I ground right before brewing. Both cups were far superior to the same coffee beans in our drip coffee maker (our machine makes acceptable but not great coffee). What really surprised me is that I felt the brew using the freshly ground beans was better than what I previously achieved with these same beans using my Aeropress. I do not usually use the flavored coffee in the press so cannot compare those. These bags are less fuss then the Aeropress and with results this good, I may just start using these at home as well as travel and backpacking. My bags came vacuumed sealed, a nice touch.

Compact and perfect for your backpacking trip or camping
These work great and take up very little space. Have taken them on a pack trip and overnight camp outs. Open up add coffee grounds and the little holder fold over your cup then just add hot water. Sometimes depending on the cup you use you may want to hold on so it doesn’t fall into the cup.

Great for Camping!
I have done everything from bringing a titanium french press, to instant coffee, teabags of coffee etc when backpacking. I have to say these little bags are fantastic. They weight almost nothing. Take up pretty much zero space in my bag and are easy to use. I went on a 2 day trip this last weekend. Brought 6 bags, 3 cups each day which enough coffee to fill the bags to about 50%. I experimented with these before I went camping with them. I have a burr grinder at home. Initially I just did a course grind because thats what it was set to for my french press I use in the morning. I quickly found out the course grind is NOT the way to go. The course grind allows the water to go right through and not filter through the ground beans slow enough. What this does is give you somewhat weak coffee. Next I did a very fine grind, something you would do for Espresso. This was too fine and trapped the water in the bag. By the time I ended up making the cup, it was WAY to strong and bitter to drink. I ended up finding the sweet spot on my grinder of about 60% set more towards the fine grind. I love these bags and will use them for all my solo trips. I will still probably revert back to my french press when I do my bigger group trips. I would highly recommend!

Easy to Use!
These are great. Work well and filter coffee well. Sometimes they do fall off the cup as the sides are a little weak. Very easy to use.

No fuss pour over coffee anywhere
I just returned from a one week trip and had some Japan coffee bags with me that convinced me that this is what I want to use all the time, even at home. Love the simplicity of just adding my own coffee and pouring in the hot water, then disposing of the whole thing. No big, rigid pour over coffee dripper to line with a filter, then pour water into, before washing the dripper and putting it away. This is so easy and quick, and I can let the bag "steep" for a bit because I like my coffee strong. This is the route I'm taking from now on!

Poor Quality - Drains Too Slowly
Not sure if there's a trick to these, but we had super inconsistent results. They open and sit on the cup easily. There is also enough room for coffee and water so there's a healthy margin of error if you're a klutz like me. However, that's when all good assessments stop. It took more than 7 minutes to make coffee with the first one and the water cooled too much, though the second one took only 2 minutes. After an 8-day camping trip, we went through about 30 to make 16 cups of coffee. In different test vs. control experiments, we tried pre-wetting the filter (once with hot, once with cold). We also raised the temperature of the water. There must be some kind of film on the inside that melts away with the hot water, but doesn't melt consistently from filter to filter because we had such varying outcomes. It was cheap and light weight, but I don't want to work that hard for my coffee, especially if I'm roughing it while camping.

Works as expected
My heartburn is reduced by filtering my coffee through these paper filters. I brew my coffee as normal, then filter the liquid brewed coffee through this individual cup filter. Holds up nicely. Occasionally I even reuse two times.
