| Product Care Instructions | Keep plants well-watered during the growing season, especially during dry spells. Plants need about 1-2 inches of rain per week during the growing season. Use a rain gauge to check to see if you need to add water. It's best to water with a drip or trickle system that delivers water at low pressure at the soil level. Excellent performance and value
I'm very pleased with the germination rate of these Blue Lake bush beans. I used them for a mid-summer sowing and had at least a 95% (my estimate) germination rate, with nearly all developing into healthy plants. I can't speak to the production level as of yet, but given their present vigour I expect they will produce well. While Burpee lacks the cachet of the small, specialized seed vendors, I've never been disappointed in how Burpee seeds have performed over my 40+ years of gardening. They tend to carry more basic, traditional vegetable seed variants, but sometimes old school seeds are least likely to disappoint, and are nearly always the best value (short of collecting your own seeds). Very good value, especially in the larger (8 oz) size pack. 5 stars.

Expensive but excellent bean
I planted about 40 seeds and about 36 sprouted, so good germination from my pack. These do grow a little spindly and vine-like and needed short stakes for support, but only grew to about 24-28 inches tall, so it wasn't as if they were true vining beans either. They were PROLIFIC, much more so than most bush beans I've grown in the past, so a little support was an easy compromise for me. I picked from these plants for over a month and got over 7 pounds of beans out of a 2 X 2.5 foot area. And this was in zone 9a in June to July, so they prove pretty resistant to heat. And the taste is wonderful! So much better than the standard tri-color bush beans I've grown in the past even if they do take a little longer to cook. I am about to plant again for a fall crop. Highly recommend this variety.

good germination and produce well (if weather cooperates)
Germination is about 80%, Zone10 if night temp falls below 60F degrees, germination drops. 63+ ideal I use Miracle Grow Performance Organics compost 50% +native soil, (cheap compost ruined my garden once , beware (Lowes) + Miracle Grow Shake'NFeed + a little Ironite. Lots of flowers and tiny beans, planted end of April, so should be picking in around 65 days (another 3 weeks) Update with 1st harvest photo 6-30-2024 (60 days total)

Not the best
I grow this variety every year. This is not my usual brand choice and I won't use them again. Very poor yield and a few of these bush beans were vining.

Good germination
Horrible germination percentage. About 10%. Planted twice in perfect early summer weather. I am a retired Farmer and lifelong gardener. I know bad seed when I encounter it. Bought a pack of seeds at the local Ace hardware and had effect germination. Tossed the majority of this seed away.

Quick germination
Decided to try to get 1 last crop before the winter. They germinated quick and it looks like I will get them before the first freeze.

Disappointed
Most of these did not sprout and the ones that did were a mix of runners and the bush ones also had strings. Disappointed in this purchase.
