makes an excellent cutting surface
These work really well--they are self-healing, and do a great job as a cutting substrate. They're a little on the small side, but they are the size I ordered, so you can't fault them for that. It does make storing them easier--at about a half-inch, they're very thick.

Alternative Usage
Apparently this is for some sort of fabric cutting device, but I’m using it for something altogether different: as a backing for a stitching punch for leather work. In that regard, it works great: it’s thick enough that I can punch leather on my counter and the punch will not go through it, and it’s solid enough that the leather doesn’t flex when I hit it. It seems to self-heal well enough given my usage, so I’m happy!
