A very fun, strategic, light combat game
This game is very enjoyable to play. The rules and mechanics are fairly simple, yet the strategic element of the game is complex, requiring much thoughtful projective planning to be successful. The different factions with their own unique styles and strengths adds to the depth of the game. The artwork is good throughout, and the expansion packs available really add to the versatility of the game. Overall, the game is very fun, moves quickly, and is simple to pick up for anyone with strategic board game/rpg experience while also being straightforward enough for novice gamers to learn and enjoy without much difficulty.

Worth the buy!
First review I've ever done on Amazon. Bought this after seeing and reading some reviews on Boardgamegeek.com Played this 4 times sense Christmas. We got this and the unquote dead expansion and house ruled a few things to make it play with 5 players. This game has been a real hit. We also got smash up, mission red planet. One night werewolf, Santorini, heroes realm, onward to Venus, sushi go party, dragonwood, sandwich and this has been the most clamored after second to Salem. This is my first miniatures game and I'm impressed with how smooth the gameplay is. The game centers around each factions cards and the cards you use to move, attack and defend with. There are hard choices as each card has symbols for more than one of your 5 faction characters and your not sure if you should use it or save it. You win with 5 points either by moving and collecting your own factions crystals or knocking out the characters of your opponents. Overall very impressed. Non gamers and gamers have both liked this if They have any level of competitiveness. I'm not new by any means to boardgames I have over 120 in my collection.

Worth every penny.
It is such a good game. It is one of those games that are easy to learn but difficult to master, great components, awesome game mechanics, nice story, very, very nice miniatures. I’d say it’s a must buy if you like fantasy tactics and skirmish games, plus there are also expansions and new boards that you can buy which add a lot to the game. Great replayability.

A lite combat game
Wildlands is a two to four player strategy miniature combat game. Players are attempting to obtain five points by either picking up their own 5 crystals, eliminating 5 opponents, or any combination of the two. Players will choose one of four factions to be in the game; The Guild, The Lawbringers, The Gnomads, and The Pit Fighters. Each faction has their own strengths and weaknesses when playing the game. Players will receive five crystals in the color they have chosen for their faction. Players will also choose one of the sides of the board as it has a dungeon and ruin side. Each player will be dealt ten cards that are each numbered to match the numbered locations on the board, 42 spaces. They will then choose five locations to be placed face down on each of their factions character cards. These face down locations will be the areas the player's characters will spawn. The remaining five cards will be passed to the player on their left. The cards a player receives will dictate where they will be placing their crystals. To end the setup, players will shuffle their designated faction deck and draw seven action cards, and the player with a crystal shard on the lowest numbered location goes first. A player will always reveal a face down numbered location and spawn the character underneath the card. This is always done unless the player has all their characters on the board. The player may then play as many cards as they wish to, or can, along with spawning additional characters. When a player is done, they will draw three cards and only up to their maximum hand size of seven. What a player can do on their turn is dictated by the cards that they have. Each action card in a faction will have a list of symbols belonging to individual characters in their faction. The character symbol allows that character to be moved, one space, and spending three of the same character symbol allows that character to pick up a crystal. When a character is eliminated, their symbol is then only able to be used to pick up a crystal, but by any character still alive. Aside from allowing a character to do the actions explained, they are also able to Attack (Melee, Range, or Area), Defend (Shield or Cover), Rally, and Fly. The type of action available on action cards can be abundant, limited, or nonexistent for a faction. An example is The Guild faction, they have a great amount of Area attack actions, while the Pit Fighters prefer only close range Melee attacks. To defend a player needs to play their characters matching symbol with either a Melee action to block Melee attacks, or Shields to block Range and Area attacks. Cover is only viable if the player is in a location with cover. Rally and Fly are a type of movement. Rally allows a character and another character of the same faction to both move one space with only one card, limitation is they have to be near each other or on the same space. Fly allows a character to move up to two spaces instead of only one. The last kind of action card in a factions deck is a Wild action. A Wild action can be used by any character and has four uses. It can act as a card missing for a player needing three symbols to pick up a crystal. It provides a movement of one that can be used by anyone. It can allow a player to draw two cards, but they still cannot go pass the hand limit. The final action a player can do with a Wild action is interrupt a players turn. When a player does an action, outside of spawning or playing an interrupt, another player may interrupt them after they have completed their action. When a player interrupts, they may play any number of cards from their hand before returning the turn back to the current player. This kind of interrupt can also be interrupted after an action is done. The new interrupt can be done by another player or the player whose current turn it is. No matter if another interrupt is played and that person ends their action, the turn returns to the original current player. That means the player that played the first interrupt will not get their interrupt turn back. The game will continue until someone achieves five points which will end the game immediately and they are declared the winner. Wildlands is a great lite miniature combat game that players will quickly learn their is more depth to the kind of choices they may make. Besides deciding where to start, for example, they are also creating their opponents spawn area for their crystals. This can make things easy or more difficult for a player to achieve points by collecting crystals. The game has a great line of site that is simply drawing a line from one numbered space to another. The color of the numbered circle also allows the players to know if the location provides cover. Each faction feels completely different from one another with their own strengths and weaknesses. This strength and weakness goes beyond simply by just creating what kind of actions are available on a factions cards, but the health of characters can be very different. This is a good game that players can quickly get into, but the need to constantly check if a player is going to interrupt does slow the game down. This is something that can be mitigated by multiple plays of the game, but the first few games will be a lot of asking "does anyone want to interrupt". This is a game that can grow into a better one with additional factions and boards. The miniatures provided are great looking and have a small wash to give detail to each character. This game is very easy to learn, and fast to play, but the types of actions a player can achieve will quickly show the depths that can be discovered in the game.

Really fun game in a short time
I got this game after seeing a couple play-throughs online. It is a fast game, it takes about half an hour, an hour the first time when you are explaining the rules. There is a lot of chaos, and usually it takes people a run-through before they understand the rules. You always have to be paying attention during the other people's turns as well as your own, and it fits the motto, "No plan survives first contact with the enemy."

Fun game and quick to learn
This is a fun game, quick to learn and easy to play. Interesting and is different each time you play depending on which characters you pick and where your jewels are located. You have a team of characters that are looking around the map for their jewels. It is a card, board game. You use your character cards to do different activities.

Very fun game
The game is fun. We played with four players and I would imagine that’s the optimum amount. I don’t think it would be as fun with less players, but I haven’t tested that theory yet. The miniatures are BEAUTIFUL. Even though I love painting miniatures they’re beautiful as-is and I won’t be touching these with a brush. Overall I’m very happy with this purchase.

Brought over Xmas for a change of pace from. Monopoly. Surprisingly easy to pick up, fast paced, good change of pace from dice games. Nice to get through a complex board game inside of an hour without fallings out, highly recommend.
