Best Book Ever...for "the talk"
We are on our second round of needing to talk with our kids about growing up...this book covers it. My husband and son work on this ( you will need the main book too) and have their "man" time. We are very happy with how Dobson covers all the parts and pieces needed for a young man (we start at age 10) to learn the biblical way to handle the in's and out's of maturing. This format is great for conversing with your kids and talking about their thoughts, struggles, questions...definitely not the way our parents handled the subject. Highly recommend this!

Great info and makes him think.
Well written and great content. I have chosen to skip a bit of the reading book with my son but he looks forward to doing this a few days a week. Some of the workbook activities seem a little corny but we still d ok them. The issues are still very pertinent. Talks about many issues that need to be addressed. Thankfully, he has heard most of this before from us but presented in a different way.

excellent resource
This book is an excellent tool for any parent hoping to help educate their son on what will happen during the transitions of adolescence. My son was very appreciative of our process of going through this book. He learned a great deal and will be more confident in knowing what is about to happen. While adolescence is a challenge for all kids, I truly believe he is better equipped now that he has gone through this book and workbook.

Great Resource
I really wish my parents knew how important it was to explain this to me. I really believe having this knowledge would have helped me during those difficult teen years. I have had a chance to review all of this material and will be sharing this with my daughter in the next couple of months. I am excited that I can let her know what to expect in the next few years and that she (and I) will make it through!

Neat Information
We love the material for our younger teens, however the previous cover (youth hiking up a mountain) was MUCH MORE appealing and motivating than a pair of feet with tennis shoes. It looks like they are saying "Your teen years are going to be a breeze!"

Not really necessary to go with the CD
I didn't find this book all to useful or helpful. It tells you to do specific activities that coincide with the paperback book "Preparing for Adolescence", but it also suggests use with the CD. Then the workbook breaks down each activity to a coinciding page section of the paperback book. In other words if you have the CD you won't know which lessons apply to what. Also, it didn't seem to match up really with what the CD's were discussing. I suppose if used in a group setting this book would be more helpful, but for me and my parent/homeschool use it simply wasn't worth it. I wish I hadn't of spent the extra money. The corresponding CD was fantastic.

Good stuff
I enjoyed reading this with my kid. It gave us something to talk about other than video games. Plus it was information that helped his spiritual growth.
