Just awesome, thrilling and a page turner

The more I read about Ciri, the main protagonist, the more she fascinates me. She has such power, she herself does not know. One cannot but love her. Sometimes the storyline is a bit boring but only in the beginning. As the story progresses, the pace picks up. Don't compare it with Game of Thrones. It has its own charm and beauty. Try to soak yourself in that.

Dwindling and swindling

The review is not about the story. Rather it is about the quality of the book. The book now costs double of what it did earlier, while the earlier issues are being removed so there aren't any options left. This edition has a bigger font size, which makes the book bigger. However, the page quality is average, with the cover quality being very mediocre. So much so, that the cover is cut shorter than the pages. If this trend continues, I might pick up pirated copies from the streets, at least to get a better bargain.

Looks slightly used.

The edges of the cover look slightly used might've happened during the delivery or is a resale...

It’s a grind...

I’m grinding through this book because I’ve read the others but I’m not really enjoying it anymore.I don’t like the way the guy writes he’s always jumping about through time and stuff and not in a clever way.I’ve had enough but I hate to leave things unfinished.

The structure and writing are often messy, but it possesses some good scenes

‘The Tower of the Swallow’ is a bit of a mixed bag. Quite a lot happens that progresses the overall story of the series and there are some excellent combat sequences. Often, though, the writing is quite meandering in getting to certain points. Things are often bitty and broken, sidling around events and jumping perspectives and time zones in detailing what has happened or is happening. The Witcher series often adopts different approaches to writing and storytelling; some more successful than others. Even if they happen not to quite work at times, they are still generally of interest in some way. Here, though, the author uses similar techniques to those he has used before but seems to get a bit carried away adopting multiple techniques and approaches, sometimes to tell the same thing. This results in a bit of overlap and repetition, rendering things a little confusing at times.Much of ‘Baptism of Fire’ was devoted to establishing Geralt and his ‘team’. They are still a good and entertaining element of the novel but there is simply not enough of them after their build up in ‘Baptism of Fire’. For a series that is entitled ‘The Witcher’ it is a bit light on him.Instead a lot of the book is occupied with the various figures that are involved in some way in tracking down and capturing Ciri. The novel is more orientated around how these characters frequently hamper each other’s efforts in capturing or killing Ciri because they focus on their own agendas. Following all of them is done in several ways, utilising different styles. Sometimes, though, this is too experimental and doesn’t really work. The better parts of the novel probably involve Ciri and her continuing character development as she is forced to adapt to survive those that hunt her. The setback and sufferings she has to endure begins to send her down a dark path psychologically and the novel leaves her in an interesting place character wise.Although it possesses some good plot developments for the overall series and some strong, exciting scenes, the unnecessarily convoluted style result in this being one of the weaker Witcher books.

Fitting ending for a great saga !

Hard to describe without spoilers but I like the slight Game Of Thrones style of approach :)I realise that the game series missed so many opportunities, not sure if due to copyright tho.Back to the granny's house ... for people who read the first 3 books of the saga (+ the stories) the last two are a must and I think you'll enjoy them more than the first. Certainly the style changed, more details to the action and more good quality humour.I seldom smile while reading a book but this one made me laugh out loud in one occasion. And almost cry in another. Such is life. Now go and read it !

So Good I've Read it Twice

I enjoyed this book so much that I've already read it twice since I got it back in May. I've never read a novel twice before, not even the previous Witcher books, so that's an indication of how much I enjoyed The Tower of the Swallow. Unlike the previous books this story is not told in chronological order and is told through a number of characters perspectives and that actually works extremely well and keeps the saga fresh and creative even though its the fourth book. This also has to be the funniest book of the saga as it made me laugh multiple times even during the second read. All of the characters are interesting, especially the people joining Geralt on his expedition, particularly, my favorite character of all the books, Milva. Now I can't wait to read Lady of the Lake and see how this truly fantastic saga ends.

They do get better and better

I admit that I did struggle to get through the first book, but I am finding myself more drawn into the world and characters. I really enjoyed the narrative and Ciri’s story in this one. All the characters are great at this moment, the villains are really good and interesting.Anyway straight onto the last book p, hopefully it is as good as this one.
