is it dishwasher safe?

No. Washed mine on top shelf to be safe and now the covers don't even begin to fit.

Does not matter! It’s preth useless for sifting home made flour. I returned it.

What is the mesh size, please?

pretty small but dont buy waste of money plastic parts break easily

Anyone have issues with this sifter getting rusty?

I have a Wilton sifter that is exactly like this one, but mine is white with yellow, instead of purple. I've had mine for about 6 years and I've had no issue with rusting. I love this sifter since it has a lid AND a bottom---saves me a lot of mess. I'm getting ready to order another one---this white and purple one, b/c I need one at my Dad's house.
