Abstract Algebra by Dummit and Foote consists of simple explanation of a abstract concept along with plenty of proofs related to the particular topic. I bought this book for just Rs. 460. The meaning of each and every line in this book is deep. Best book for any beginner to start with.

One of the best beginning, copious volume in Algebra ...though I prefer Herstein's Topics in Algebra...it does seem to have many more examples than herstein...and dihedral groups and concept of fiber are treated in depth and detail....

The book is somewhat encyclopaedic ( covering much more than what is needed for Undergraduate Math). LOTS of examples are given ( If your professor rushes, then you can refer this book for concrete examples) and enough hints are given for exercises. Even though I prefer small books , I recommend this book.

Very good book but should contain list of reference book.
