Elegoo is my go-to recommendation for Uno Starter Kits
The quick take: This is a great kit, although the documentation is more an overview than project-based, if that is a concern for you. The long read: I started out with Arduino by getting the official Arduino Starter Kit. Being a neophyte, I was a little overwhelmed by the various options available for entering the Arduino world, so I went with the one that seemed to be the least risk, but the highest cost. Later, when shopping for a 2nd Uno and accessories, I purchased the Elegoo Super Starter Kit, which included an Uno and a nice variety of sensors/accessories at 1/3 the price of the official kit. Quickly, the Elegoo kit became my go-to recommendation for Uno starter kits -- it includes a good variety of quality components, including ones not in the official kit, and it costs a good deal less. It also comes in a great, solid plastic case with a cover that latches shut -- really nice construction that beats the cardboard box the official kit comes in. I kind of wish I had started with the Elegoo in the first place. My only caveat is that the PDF documentation included with the Elegoo kit is not as project-based as the official starter kit. The project book that comes with the official Arduino starter kit offers great introductory info and walks you through specific projects that are tied to specific components in the kit. However, the Elegoo PDF does include good introductory info, getting you started with your Uno and the IDE, walking you though a Blink sketch, and giving you a good overview of each component and how to connect them to your UNO. Beyond that, some of the official kit project chapters can be found online, the official Arduino site has a wealth of valuable introductory info, and the Arduino IDE comes with the code from the book built-in -- so as long as you're comfortable digging in and finding beginner projects online (of which there are many), the Elegoo kit will get you started using Arduino at a much lower cost. I don't think I would say that the official hard-copy project book is worth the extra $60+ cost of the official kit. Since then I've gone on to buy other Elegoo supplies and kits, and have been happy with everything they sell so far. I've only had limited interaction with their support, but I will say they were nice and helpful.

Awesome for beginners
This was my first kit to get me started in Arduino, great board and components. Almost 1 year later, many other boards bought and this is still one of my go-to boards.

Nice Arduino clone, great value
I got this kit to reinforce my fading basic electronics knowledge, and to have some fun. I do have a litle background in the basics. This kit is jam packed with electronic goodness for the money. My kit came sealed with a warning of what to do if the seal was broken. The plastic storage box is nice but not very roomy. I made an inventory and all the parts are there. The R3 (Arduino clone) works perfectly straight out of the box. All the resistors are labeled on their tapes (for those who have never used resistors packaged this way, just cut the leads next to the tapes). This is good, because as others have noted, the 5 line resistors on the blue backgrounds are difficult to read. For learning, the tan resistors with 4 lines are a lot easier. There is a very nice selection of components and experiments. I’m pleased with the breadboard and wires so far. I didn’t use the CD and instead downloaded the reference materials straight from the Elegoo Web site. I have a few suggestions to enhance the learning experience if you have little to no background. Go slow. Fully understand and digest what is presented in each lesson. Do use seek out additional information and learn about each component and what it does. Do get an inexpensive multimeter and learn how to use it. It is a great way to ID those pesky resistors and to troubleshoot. Do download one of the many electronics reference phone apps available and use it to help understand the components and their values. Don’t be afraid to play with and modify the included sketches. That’s a good way to learn programming basics. Of course, if you just want to follow the diagrams and see things work that’s fine too. However, if you want to learn electronics and Arduino programming the journey can be better than the destination with just a little extra effort.

Good deal on a bunch of fun parts and good Arduino clone board
Bought this kit on cyber Monday for about $7 cheaper than current list price. Although this Chinese Arduino clone vendor is charging such a reduced fee for this package, the buyer gets a heck of a lot of cool components in here. I’d definitely pay full price all over for this kit now that I’ve explored it for a couple hours. I am excited to go through every one of the tutorials Elegoo has published for this kit. They are concise and do a good job covering the electrical engineering principles behind the included components. I’m dropping a star only because they could improve the docs in regards to installing and configuring the Arduino IDE on the Mac OS platform. Instead, they detail the windows considerations and then suggest the Mac settings will be similar. That is a euphemism for “You hafta figure it out yourself.” Fortunately for my, setting up the Arduino IDE on my PowerBook just worked and I ran into zero snags. UPDATE: I want to also mention the advantage of going with an Arduino vs a Raspberry Pi or BeagleBoard (I own many of both those). For the beginner tinkerer, the Arduino reduces the dimensions of complexity getting your program into the device and doing things. Raspberry Pi, etc. are very good for higher-performance applications, but are overkill for the type of projects you would put together with these kinds of parts. What I'm trying to say is the Arduino platform is a great starting point and offers lightweight energy requirements (can be battery powered). All the parts in this kit are fully compatible with Raspberry Pi and BeagleBoard, so you can carry them over should you decide to delve into the other platforms. UPDATE 2/28/2018: I have spent perhaps a dozen hours with this kit and continue to enjoy the collection of parts and appreciate the tutorials. The Arduino UNO is a very capable microprocessor board, but it does offer a finite amount of input / output pins. As the tutorial progresses into implementations that exceed the built-in ports, they introduce this other chip that can take commands and forward signals to additional, external pins. This allows output to go to multiple devices (LEDs, stepper motors, etc.) beyond what would be available with just the built-in pins. Working your program code around this constraint offers a fun dimensional puzzle. For my non-experimental projects, I have chosen to go the route of the Arduino Mega board that offers a vast amount of additional pins than the UNO. The model sold by Elegoo on Amazon is only about $14, so that pricing is very attractive for reducing the complexity of my logic control coding.

Neatly packaged. All working parts. Exactly as Advertised.
I will keep the below review for analysis purposes, however it's not needed. I received an item that was originally meant for return. Thus, explaining the missing little components and broken board. Due to this amazon and Elegoo decided to make it right, and even give me the chance of reviewing this and the Most Complete Arduino Kit. I initially decided to get the kit to develop a personal project of mine, and it was easier and cheaper to purchase the ready made kit by Elegoo. My first impression of the Kit was how neat everything was packaged. As a developer, I am known for being "disorderly organized." Seeing the kit when I first opened it was a breath of fresh air. Simply marvelous! Though these are "clones," THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN "ACTUAL" ARDUINO BOARD AND THE ELEGOO BRAND. The boards are open source, and openly available for companies to make them for distribution. YOU CAN BUY THIS AND REST ASSURED!! After I dug into the kit, I realized something of note. Not just the look of the individual items, but the feel of them as well; these boards and circuitry are made of top notch materials!!! The LCD Screen is clear enough for any display you may need. The motors are reasonably functional. Speed and power not truly needed, simple projects are a breeze. I especially appreciated the sevro motor's responsiveness to multiple layers of code. In addition to the motors, LCD and RFID components, every other piece worked and worked well. For the purposes of the written review, I built several projects and I attempted to use the CD as a newbie would. If I was to put any negative remarks on the kit, it would be the CD with the needed software. Though this is initially a great idea, the software and even how it's implemented changes so frequently. I recommend the PDF being printed in a small reference-like booklet. This is no fault of Elegoo; that is just how technology works now-a-days. Moreover, I recommend using the given links and PDF on the CD itself. Which is extraordinarily useful! The website is full of updated information and is a great go to! My final review of this product is a solid 5 Stars! This kit is well researched, well made and overall amazing for the price!! I would recommend for others to buy and I would even buy it again. My true rating : 5.0. Final Thoughts: this is a great starter kit, but I have to say get the Most Complete Kit. It currently has 63 parts and is worth every penny!! A SPECIAL THANK-YOU: Thank you Elegoo and Amazon for giving me an opportunity for myself. I would've walked away unsatisfied, if it wasn't for the great customer support. Not only were you able to fix the situation, but you will have a customer for life!!!! (Outdated)Below is my previous review. My arduino doesn't connect, and no leds on the board work. I tried different cords and still no power. therefore this 'kit' which also had missing parts. I am beyond passed off now!!! I gave a 5 star review because I know what it's like to fight for stars to assist the company in its growth. But truthfully, there were parts missing too many little ones to name. Many leds and a small controller. This is no big thing to me. As a whole, I have what I need. Presentation of the item itself was amazing!! The case had been packed neatly and well (aside from small items absent). There is a label on the inside cover and the parts are labeled there well. The book you need is in the CD you are given, but honestly the website is much better. This would make a great gift, given all parts are within the item. Packaging was emaculate and gives a great impression. Thus making the sting a little more unbearable. Would I buy it again? Yes, I would be willing to take the chance. It's a good package product for basic projects. The information (obtained through the given CD or website) is solid! UPDATED. 5.0!!! If you mare it this far, here is my real overall rating, 4.3. I CHANGE THE 4.3 TO A NEGATIVE 13!!!

Excellent quality and instructions.
This kit is great for learning and soldering. The microcontroller gets you practice at programming and the components and pieces are of excellent quality. Kit comes complete with perfect instructions. The price is the best part. So many kits are much more expensive without offering the quality and pieces this kit has. I wish there was another kit with other builds by this brand. Highly recommend this as learning STEM kit.

Nice product
I recently purchased the ELEGOO UNO Project Super Starter Kit, and I’m extremely happy with it. The kit is very well-organized, and it comes with a wide variety of components, sensors, and modules that are perfect for learning Arduino and experimenting with different projects. The instructions and tutorial resources provided by ELEGOO are clear and beginner-friendly, which made it easy to get started even though I’m new to Arduino. The UNO board itself feels solid and works perfectly.

Affordable Fun Arduino UNO Kit
A few years ago, I started learning about Arduino with an (Official) Arduino Starter Kit. Loved the learning experience and went/struggled through the various projects in the included Project Book. A little later, I got an Elegoo Smart Robot Car Kit that gave an excellent integration experience. In the present, I decided there was something I wanted to make and it involved motors. I found that the Elegoo Super Starter Kit included a servo motor and a stepper motor which would be good candidates for the job (my earlier Arduino kit does not include a stepper motor). At a much lower price that included a microcontroller and accessories, the Elegoo kit seemed to make sense for further experimentation. One of the most interesting components in the kit that I had not seen before was the Power Supply Module which attaches to the breadboard. It has a on/off switch which has been very helpful. I did find two issues with the kit. First, one of the Female-to-Male Dupont wires had a broken end. The other problem is that the USB cable caused my laptop to give a power error message and there was no power or data connection. I emailed Elegoo Support and replacement parts were promptly sent to me and received in about a week. I am pleased with the product support. I also had an issue adequately powering the stepper motor and I received guidance to use a separate power adapter (not included in kit) rather than the aforementioned Power Supply Module with the 9V battery from the kit attached. I have prototypes of the motorized devices working. So far, so good with uploading Arduino code and the components functioning. I did have to order flange coupling connectors to attach to the stepper motor. Just to be wishfully picky, it would be nice to also have 10 cm Dupont wires in this kit. The included 20 cm Dupont wires are understandably good for prototyping, but there are 10 cm as well as 20 cm breadboard jumper wires in the kit. COAUTHCODE062923ELEGOO
