Works well
Good product. Can get a bit hot if you're copying over a bunch off data.

Cheap, Sturdy, and Functional.
This enclosure is one of the cheapest options available. The one I received worked as expected and the enclosure is composed of a sturdy metal to keep your NVME drive safe while cloning or using as an external. It is very easy to swap out the drive. Just the two screws on the end and after sliding out the mounting PCB, the screw that secures the drive in place.I would personally never waste the money on an NVME drive to use as an external drive, the USB port will end up bottlenecking the speed in most situations anyways. But if you felt so inclined, this case would be perfect. I personally just use it whenever I need to clone or troubleshoot hardware issues. It also came with the USB C to USB A cable and screwdriver for swapping out the drive, so that's handy if you don't have them already.

It's way too slow! (?) or is it?
Update: This enclosure gets a solid 5 if it lasts. finally got a chance to test this via thunderbolt 3 and USB 3.1 ports and it's working great at over 900mb/s for both write and read. I guess something is wrong with my old laptop and desktop usb ports. You can see my original review below. The price has gone up a bit so - one star. You got a good thing going, so do not ruin it. it won't make any sense if the enclosure is more expensive than your spare low capacity SSD.Original Review:I was really excited to receive the enclosure. However it is a complete disappointment. The price is good. The build quality is great and it was easy enough to install and get it up and running in no time, but you must be kidding me with the speed. I used a 2TB NVMe Gen 3x4 SSD and I got 30 mbps ish which is even slower than the ancient old spinning hard drive!!! Sure I only used this through an USB 3.0 interface but still there is no way for an SSD that is rated at 3000 mb/s + read and write to perform so badly!! Did I get a lemon? My new laptop will be delivered in 10 days then I will try it with the thunderbolt 3 port and see how that will go. Still, there is no excuse for the slow speed anyways!!!! A little mad at this point. Are all the good reviews fake?

NVME M.2 enclosure for cloning around
The Rongdeson M.2 NVME SSD Enclosure with USB 3.1 Type A and Type-C cables is great to mount an M.2 drive and connect to a computer as an external portable drive or as a medium to clone or redeploy a HDD or SSD to an NVME M.2 M Key SSD drive.I used it for the purpose of cloning a smaller 256GB M.2 drive that came with my gaming PC to upgrade to a 2GB M.2 (2280) drive. This enclosure kit is high quality fit and finish. It has a clean black pebbled finish aluminum enclosure where the M.2 board is securely mounted within to dissipate heat. Included is a small magnetically tipped Philips screwdriver to handle the small delicate Philips screws used for the enclosure. The kit comes with 2 different cables, a USB 3.1 Type A to USB C cable and a USB C to USB C cable. Both are 1 foot long. The product instructions is well translated to American English with helpful detailed photos. Everything fits in a clear plastic box. The only improvement I suggest is a channel in the PC board so the screw assembly that holds the end of the 80mm M.2 drive can just slide back to attach to the notch on the M.2 board. Currently you have to remove the screw from the bottom to move the brass spacer to accept the M2 board and then reattach the bottom screw without everything falling off. That's where the magnetically tipped screwdriver comes in handy to hold the little screw.Overall once my 2GB M.2 drive mounted into the enclosure, my desktop recognized the attached drive using the TYP C table and I was able to use my cloning software to perform the drive cloning. I had to do some partition manipulation to make partition adjustments as I'm redeploying/cloning data between different size drives. I had to move and merge partitions with another software to take advantage of the larger drive capacity into one contiguous partition. Versus living with multiple drive mappings.I had no issues with the connectivity or transfer speeds with this M.2 SSD drive enclosure. The only issues were with the limitations of free versions of the cloning/partitioning software. Having the USB Type C connector and cables makes this enclosure a bit more future proof as Type C connections become more commonplace.

I ran my iMac OS off this temporarily... 2 months and counting. lol. Works great!
My 2017 iMac 27" with Fusion drive still runs WAY faster off this alone externally than it did on the internal SSD+HDD "Fusion" set up that apple sends it with. I no longer have any lagging or delays like I did on the stock hardware.IT IS SLOWER than when I finally get around to putting my 2TB samsung NVMe internally but Ive been too lazy to do it so far. lol.People report the blade I have gets speeds of 2000+ R/W internally and Im getting around 1300 through this USB C external while testing it from the MacOS thats running on it. Im constantly forgetting Im running off an external device and its just dangling, getting hit by crap multiple times a day and Ive never had a single problem or anything. Im EXTREMELY IMPRESSED by the reliability and performance of this little enclosure!I would definitely not hesitate to run a Macbook Pro off this! I just wish my 2014 MBP had usb c. lol
