Grind your mistake cones into crumbs for pie crusts!
This is a really simple waffle iron, so not much to it: it works very well for its intended purpose. I wish the plates were removable for cleaning, but can't have everything. I received it yesterday, so no long-term use data; if it breaks, I'll post an update. The cone maker heats up evenly, and the waffles come out perfect once you find a good recipe. I tried all three recipes that come with the iron, and in my hands, the chocolate cone worked the best. The first recipe makes waffles that are a bit too thick and heavy to my taste. I would not recommend to use all-purpose flour, and instead use cake flour for all recipes. Since I didn't have cake flour on hand, I mixed 1/3 corn starch with 2/3 AP flour and it worked much better than 100% AP flour. I used the corn starch/AP flour mixture for the second recipe plus an additional tbsp of oil, and the waffles came out very light, thin, and crunchy. Ditto the chocolate recipe, and it was the best: not as thin and lacy as the second recipe, but thinner and more pliable than the first recipe. I am not a big fan of chocolate, so no chocolate bias here. It seems the key is not to overmix the batter and get the correct consistency. My batter was a consistency of sour cream, it was not running from the spoon, I had to drop it with the help of another spoon and press it with the lid. Once the steam stops coming out, the waffle is pretty much done and ready to be rolled. My next projects will be unsweetened waffles, chocolate tacos, cannoli, and a mille feuille (Napoleon) cake.

SIMPLY FANTASTIC!!
I recently bought a really great ice cream machine and I happened to be browsing the internet and I saw this waffle cone maker. At first, I thought, "O.K., not another gadget!" but after reading several descriptions of the machine I decided to buy it. Thank God for going with my first mind!! This machine is incredible. After reading the brief instructions, I mixed up my batch of waffle cone mix (Chef's Choice) and set out on my adventure. Spraying a small amount of olive oil onto the heating pads (I always spray oil for the first time of each use) I poured my first coaster-sized amount of mix onto the machine; closed the lid and waited for the appropriate time to elapse. After opening the lid, out came this good smelling circular cone. Immediately, I lifted the cone using a rubber spatula; used the cone roller as indicated and Viola!! A great cone!! Not to mention the wonderful smell permeating my house!! It took me two tries to get the right amount of mix to make the perfect cone. I had some of the mix slide out the sides of the machine...no problem, just wipe it off. When making your cone fold a small amount at the bottom before you begin rolling the cone; or pinch the bottom of the cone when rolling so that your ice cream will not come out at the end; or put some melted chocolate, butterscotch or caramel at the bottom and let it get hard...a tasty plug!! The only thing I can think of that would make this one package complete is if the company would supply a rubber spatula, the towel (they mention using) or perhaps a pair of cotton gloves to help roll the cone...it is hot!! However, I really use just my hands. I get a better feel of the roller this way. And, please do not let these couple of items dissuade you from purchasing this machine. That would be terrible. We should all, hopefully, have a rubber spatula and towels!! Cleaning the machine is a breeze. The non-stick heating pads are greatly appreciated. I highly recommend this machine. What a great addition to any household that loves ice cream!! Be Blessed!!

Makes the perfect waffle cones & waffle bowls.
Made the tastiest waffle cones at home, the smell of them cooking was worth it alone :) after making about 10 of them, this waffle maker paid for itself. The cone roller they give you is the perfect size but contains BPA, which they don’t tell you till you see the sticker on the box :( So I covered it in two layers of thick foil, couldn’t disappoint my kids. My advice is to get a decent wooden one. Which I’m hoping to find on Amazon. And practice making cones, I melted chocolate chips in a sandwich bag & poured it into the bottom of the cone to avoid leakage. I also made waffle bowls, (that a smeared melted chocolate on the bottom inside) IKEA little kids bowls were the perfect size I just sandwiched the waffle between 2 bowls, should work with any small bowls. Besides the cone roller, this waffle maker is awesome. I got a decent, simple recipe off the internet. Bakes up fast, and poof, just like the farm stand I’ve cream shops... at a fraction of the cost & there’s no line, no waiting ;) Waffle cone ingredients - $2 1/2 Gallon Ice Cream - $4 Smelling those waffle cones baking in your own kitchen - priceless
