EXCELLENT Stew Pot!! Lid Included!
THIS IS THE BEST STEW POT EVER!!! I needed a new pot to make Beef Stew. I inherited my Grandmother's Graniteware roasting pan in 1996, and after using it to make beef stew for almost 24 years, (it was "well loved" when I received it) I had to send it over the Rainbow Bridge. On a side note, I also have a Graniteware saucepan that I bought at a mid-Michigan Meijer store back in 1989, and I still use it to this day. I can't get rid of it for two reasons. First, It still works great. Second, it is a treasured memento of my college years :) I really liked how the Graniteware performed. It was dependable, indestructible, and cleanup was a breeze. The composition of the pan never interacted with my food, and no matter what I cooked in it, the pot was never affected in any way. It washed up the same, no matter what I made in it.I never saw a Graniteware stew pot in the store, so I was hoping I could find one on Amazon. Jackpot!! I ordered it within minutes. When the box arrived, it was so lightweight, I thought it was empty. I normally cook with cast iron, so having a lightweight pot would be a nice change of pace. This pot does come with a lid, so no worries! It is made right here in the USA, in Indiana, according to the label. What I like about this pot is it is very lightweight and very easy to work with. I have enameled cast iron dutch ovens, but didn't want to use them for beef stew, because I didn't want to run the risk of staining the white enamel coating. My stew is tomato based, and I understand that tomato based products could stain the white porcelain enamel. When preparing the pot for its first use, I was happy to see the orange label peeled off easily, leaving no sticky gummy coating. It peeled off in one piece. In the past, I've purchased stock pots with labels that required near boiling water and a 5-in-1 paint scraper tool just to remove the label. Thankfully, the folks at Graniteware thought ahead. When you get a new pot, you want to use it right away. You shouldn't have to soak the pot in steaming hot water for an hour, and make a trip to the tool shed, just to remove the label. The pot also came with a little instruction insert. One important piece of information: DO NOT USE ON A GLASS COOKTOP. This is mentioned on the Amazon listing, but I'm glad they included this information with the product. Since I do have a glass cooktop, I use this pot in the oven.To give a frame of reference on what this pot can hold, here is what my beef stew contains: 3.75 pounds of chuck roast, 2.5 pounds of russet potatoes, 4 yellow onions, several cloves of garlic 1/3 bottle of wine, 3/4 cup soy sauce, and 3 - 28 ounce cans of tomatoes. That's a lot of volume, and this pot held it easily.Bottom line: I have had success using Graniteware over the past 31 years, never had a bad experience, and highly recommend their products. Thank you for reading my review, and Happy Cooking!

Came as listed
I'm sure it's a great pot, but I didn't know it could not be used on glass top stoves. I will be able to use it when I get back home and originally bought this to make Essiac Tea for my mother who has stage 4 breast cancer.

Factory Defects and I paid $14.19 to return!!
In the one picture you can clearly see the rust in the area where the coating is missing. The pictures are very hard to take and the reflections cover the rust. I have granite ware pans I have had for 20 years and they are finally to the end of their life. I ordered all new pans and 3 of them came like this one, one was way worse. The other 2 from a different supplier I just had to drop at UPS store and the return was paid. This one, I had to pay $14.19 to return the defective garbage I received. That is pathetic. If I messed up the order I would not argue with paying to return it, but I didn't. I used a chalk marker that wipes off to circle the defective areas where the coating did not cover, some of those areas already show rust, the others will rust very soon. I will not put food in a brand new rusty pan and I don't want that coating chipping off and getting into food. But, the factory defect cost me more money because their quality control didn't catch it. I can't imagine having that job would be even decent so I had no intentions of leaving a review on this product until I got to UPS and was charged so much to return it. Corporate greed? Needless to say I am beyond unhappy and disappointed with everything to do with this purchase. If I am to find anymore of my favorite pans I will have to purchase in person or go hunting at garage sales I guess.

Does not come with lid
I actually love the pot but it shows a picture of the lid but when it arrived it did not have a lid. Do not be fooled into thinking you are getting the pot and the lid. But the pot itself is durable and works really well. I love how evenly it keeps food and liquid.

Nice size, made in USA
This one is made in USA. Not all graniteware is today. It is a good size, smaller than a canner. Sometimes I dunk my dishes in boiling water after washing them - as in when my rescue cat had worms. I always have one of these around. If you have hard water like I do, after a while you can get a mineral deposit in the pot. I stay ahead of that by wiping the inside of the pot and lid with a paper towel dipped in vinegar. Put the lid on, and let it sit an hour before washing. So far, none of the nasty crystals. You get mineral deposits mainly if you use a pot for boiling water only . Food is more acidic and the crystals dont happen

Functional... but not an impressively well-made pot.
I've had the pot for a couple of months now, and seems to be holding up all right, but I was less than impressed when I received it. Although mine was evenly coated, the metal seems very thin. The lid is a little larger than the pot, and although it lays flat and seals acceptably, it tends to slide around rather than seating firmly. Most worrisome of all, the edge of the lid is only rolled about halfway, leaving what could be a dangerous edge. Perhaps this is a manufacturing defect, as it seems that rolling the edge might solve the fit problem as well... but I'm not inclined to put any more time or effort into it.

What is old should be New Again! Great product!
Great product!, "MADE IN THE USA" I liked it so much, ordered larger sizes too! Have a pot of stew on as we speak! Ordered the white 4 quart pot seems ok but disappointed it was made it was made in Mexico! This product should be advertised more! It's a healthy alternative to the cooking products on the market, it is reasonably priced, it's durable, lightweight, and made in the USA! Would like to see the white stock pots made here! It's not fancy, but maybe our grandmothers new better!
