I want to gift this book for every toddler mom out there. My little guy has a lot of big feelings, and he seemed to be having trouble understanding what he was feeling and how to manage them (like EVERY toddler). He had also started hitting when he was feeling mad. This book has helped a ton. It’s given him a framework to start understanding his feelings and be able to label some of them. The book gave him some words to try using to start talking about them. Best of all, the story is really light and playful; because it’s not heavy-handed, it provided a soft way to open the door to conversations about his feelings without shame or judgement. Also, the illustrations are really cool! Buy this book.

Been reading this book almost daily for years..great book teaches emotion's.

My son is now 4 years old and although we talk about his feelings, I like to buy books that can assist in his social emotional development as well. This book does a great job at illustrating feelings and labeling them. The feelings aren’t labeled as good or bad, which is also helpful in explaining feelings to children. My son loves this book and sometimes requests it at bedtime. I am also the director of an early development center and our staff have this book in their classrooms. Some of our children have trouble expressing their emotions in a healthy manner, so this has been helpful for teachers to use to talk about feelings. If I had to pick one thing I don’t like about the book (and this is me being VERY picky), it’s that when it talks about anger it mentions taking it out on others, but the other character offers to be nice so the anger will disappear. I don’t want to teach my son that it’s okay to hurt others and that it’s other people’s responsibility to help calm him down. So, I mention other tools I’ve given him like deep breaths or counting for when he feels angry.

This book has been a great way for our 4 year old to identify what 'color' he is emotionally. I've got my own adult criticisms of the book (like the color of the little girl - she's the same color as the 'fear' emotion what's that about(?), a couple of her responses to the monster, that they don't identify the fear color by name like they do all the others) BUT its not about what *I* like or how *I* view the book, its about what my kiddo thinks and how useful he finds it. Its been great for him and he wants to read it every night so for me that's a win!

Perfect animation for kids. I really liked the way the portrayed the emotions. Simple and clear for their ages and cognitive abilities.

Adhd suspected in my 4 year old. He has big emotional rollercoasters. But reading the book everyday, watching someone read it on youtube too has made a considerable change in his behavior not only at home but at kindergarten. Even my 2 year old loves it and it helps her too!!
