Great Book of Cardboard Furniture: Step-by-Step Techniques and Designs

What a fabulous idea, making furniture out of cardboard. The ideas in here are overly ornate, would be very difficult to copy (if you wanted to!) and even in the pictures in here, look rubbish. I reckon, given a bit of hard work.lots of time and measuring you could do better off your own back using google images. Expensive and crap.

I bought this book before going on a cardboard furniture course. Very inspirational. It concentrates on one particular technique of construction. A good starting point.

I bought this as a gift for my very creative son who is building his own house. I told him I was anxious to be able to relax in a cardboard chair when he had it built. He said that would be fine, but no putting out cigarettes on the arm of the chair! :-) (I DON"T smoke!) He has built many projects out of cardboard from "kits" (animals, birds etc.) so has welcomed this challenge.

There are books suggesting furniture that is dumb- - - using acres of laminated cardboard- - - this one is different. Accuracy and precision are required. The furniture is designed very well, the instructions are quite clear. This one would be best for a young person, who would find it easy to get on the ground and cut and measure. Not very good for ancient peoples. Made me wish I were young again !!! I will gift it to my niece when she is old enough. I loved it.

There are only a handful of actual pieces that are explained step by step. Not enough to justify the cost. However, what you can learn in terms of basic skills for creating cardboard furniture in general may be worth it in the end.
