These are a great toy that is safe for having magnets but also teaches art, shapes and configurations.

I purchased 2 for grandsons and I to enjoy during their annual summer visit - they were a hit with the youngest (8) who is the budding artist. The oldest, 11 was 'ok' with the project. They provide paint for the tiles, but in order to escape the paint mess - I used a very large set of colored permanent ink pens (national brand starts with an S) and they worked perfectly! Way less mess. The magnets are stick on and seem to hold. I am a little worried because of the textured backs of the ceramic tiles that the sticky part of the selfstick magnets may give over time, but we shall see. They are actual ceramic tiles meant to be used with grout - so they have a waffle texture to the backs. The front of the tiles are smooth, an ivory shimmer to them. For the price I think they were a good deal and fun project! I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. They were cute to paint with the kids and everything really great gifts, but the magnets don’t stick. I suggest getting some gorilla glue in the back and you should be good to go.

This was so much fun to do with my 7 year old grandchild. Instructions say to draw pic on tile first but we free styled our pics. Turned out so good, tiles looked so good when finished. Great indoor craft for kids and adults. I did 3 myself and one thing we like about the tiles is if you didn't like how your art work turned out you created you can use a wet paper towel and wipe off paint, dry and start over. Highly recommend this craft.

My 9 year old loved these. She loved painting them and then putting them on the fridge. They are sturdy little tiles (my toddler keeps throwing them on the hard floor and they have yet to break). Fun to paint, magnet works well.

These were a really fun activity for the kids to do. I liked that the tiles were completely blank (thought they had predrawn images) leaving my kids free to run with their own creativity. However, I do have a few issues I didn't like. The paints provided were not all the same colors pictured on the packaging and some colors represented couldn't even be made by blending paints because they couldn't manage to include all three primary colors for some reason. For instance, orange is a color represented on the packaging but there was no orange paint and no red to blend with yellow to make orange. We ended up using our own set of paint markers which worked perfectly for us (I think better than the low quality paints provided would have). The other issue we had is the adhesive backing on the magnets is very weak. We pressed the magnets onto the back of the tiles as firmly as we dared (didn't want to break the tiles) and let them rest before putting on the fridge. Less than an hour on the fridge and the first tile fell off its magnet. By the next morning all but 3 magnets had dropped their tiles, so that stickiness is just not there on the magnets. We reapplied all the magnets using E6000 and they are holding perfectly now. The tiles did also feel dusty/gritty when I pulled them out of the box so I wiped them down with a damp cloth because I was concerned the paint wouldn't stick if I didn't. Overall, we had fun but I wouldn't buy again for ourselves or as a gift for anyone.
