Portability •There are no magnets but also don’t be fooled the roll up board is much much more portable and better than a rigid wooden board, trust me. Gift Potential •This is also a cool gift for people really into chess because you seriously need dedication to it so be sure that it’s worth it. Issues •Anyways I haven’t observed any real cons but there is small issues in the injection moulding here and there but nothing that would affect gameplay and such. The bird is also of correct dimensions as it passes the four points in one square and two points diagonally in one square test which is a requirement of the US chess Federation.

The chess mat is good, although on unboxing, it the vinyl mat was smelling. Within 5-7 minutes the smell went off The chess pieces are decent, they are weighted, although few pieces velvet base were slightly mis-aligned while pasting. Few pieces are slightly ill-shaped especially where the at the joint where the 2 halves of the pieces meet. Overall...it's decent enough.

Mat quality is very good but quality of chessmen is required to be improvement.

Nice quality plastic 4" pieces, weighted with decent felt. The plastic/vinyl board that came with it was also large and marked with notation, but did have a chemical smell too it (just needs to be aired out). Also comes with a carrying bag, perfect for a school chess club!
