Supersmart - Bifidobacterium Longum (BB536) 6 Billion CFU per Day - Probiotics & Prebiotics Supplement | Non-GMO & Gluten Free - 60 DR Capsules

Our rescue dog has severe after dark PTSD and anxiety. He takes a sedative which helps some but I read that BB536 probiotic was useful for anxiety. This brand is the only BB536 that is actually effective for our dog. We ran low but the Supersmart brand was unavailable. We tried other brands of BB536 but they were ineffective. Once we could order the Supersmart brand again our dog had the desired effect: no anxiety or night terrors. I wish it was a Prime product with faster delivery like many of the other Supersmart products.

This is really a great product! I purchased this after long research into specific probiotics that could help me heal my gut, and those that were dangerous (like Acidopholus) that I needed to stay away from while my gut was healing. Bifidobacterium longum is one of the primary GOOD Probiotics to take to start healing the gut. (NOTE: Very important -- Another benefit of this product is that it is NOT loaded with all the other probiotics and pre-biotics that are harmful when dealing with healing the bowel and the microbiome.) As I started to heal, I was able to start adding other probiotics (and finally started some prebiotics like PHGG and GOS) and I continue to use this Bifidobacterium longum and several others now (like S. Boulardii). Since the "bad" bacteria were out of control, I found it very important NOT to feed the bad critters, and found that many "healthy" foods and prebiotics were doing more damage than good. The same is true for supposedly healthy probiotics - at the wrong stage of healing, certain probiotics are so dangerous and continue to feed the bad guys. Bifidobacterium longum is one of the probiotics that can and should be taken at every stage of recovery, but are absolutely vital for the early stage of removing and killing the bad bacteria and introducing the "good" bacteria to build a healthy ratio. Beyond basic healing, this product is also a huge boost to my immune system and helps to keep the good bacteria ratios in proper order. I had a long history of diverticulitis, along with massive antibiotics each time. My bacterial balance way so far out of healthy range, and I thought that I was helping by taking regular spectrum probiotics (and even yogurt), but learned that I was hugely mis-informed and actually making it worse. The damage done by the diverticulitis finally ripped a section of the bowel, and I had a bowel perforation and was critically ill. Luckily I survived that, but needed to have surgery (and again more antibiotics) to remove the damaged portion of the large bowel (bowel resection). To recover from this I did considerable research and learned of the proper foods and probiotics to take, step by step, to heal the bowel and therefore heal me. It has been several months of careful management of what to take and what not to take. This product has been a godsend for me. Highly recommended!

Easy to take and didn't cause any stomach upset.

The first day I took it, I did not vary my regular diet at all or eat anything unusual or risky. I woke up with stomach spasms so severe that I briefly passed out and came close to calling EMT. So I waited a few days before taking it again, thinking maybe it could be something else that was causing the problem and not this pill. Then I took it again a week later and then again, that very night I woke up with stomach pain, spasms, vomiting, almost passed out again. It took about 20 minutes of spasms, passing out, to recover from the attack. Never took this brand again; never had the problem again. I have taken this strain of probiotic regularly for over 10 years. This is the first time I've used this brand. I don't know if it was just this brand of probiotic or whether I reacted to the additional additives that are used by this brand in their manufacturing process. I stopped taking this brand and switched to a different brand of the same strain of probiotic 2 months ago. No more problems.

I ordered this based on a review on reddit I found. I have been experiencing bad gut issues for a while now accompanied by disgusting sulfur egg smelling gas... one tiny fart and the whole room stank. Anyway... haha... been taking 2 capsules a night at bedtime... and the gas is gone! Also my bloating has come down quite a bit. I will keep taking I am very thankful. That gas was a serious issue... oh also haven't been as badly constipated either. And it's only been like a week maybe! Very pleased!

I bought this to help with my GUT. I became lactose intolerant because of antibiotics. This is supposed to help heal the GUT. I have only taken it for a few days but haven’t noticed any difference yet. I will follow up after I finish the bottle. The one issue I have is that the bottle must be refrigerated and it came in a regular package with no ice pack.

For anyone who can't purchase Bifidobacterium longum BL999, marketed as exclusively commercialised by Purina (Calming Care for cats or dogs), please know that BB536 is likely the exact same strain of bacteria. Purina just makes sure not to make BL999 available in any culture collection so no one can verify or research it independently. But anyway, this product is great. I've been giving half a capsule (1 billion CFU) to each of my two problem cats in the house. The feral girl is super scared of her own shadow, and the boy is food-obsessed and extremely aggressive towards all the other cats in the house. While there hasn't been any noticeable change in the boy's behaviour, the girl has responded wonderfully, approaching me and playing a lot more, not running away, calling for me, and even accepting treats directly from my hand. Please do know that this supplement alone won't make miracles, as I've been working to slowly improve my cats' behavioural issues for over a year, but I believe this product is giving that final push to fix at least one of the problems where some other supposedly calming products (aka pheromones) have failed miserably. I do hope the seller doesn't increase the price, but I need to let pet parents know that this could be of help to their anxious little ones ❤️‍🩹
