VEVOR Professional Belt Sander, 8" Disc Sander and 4 x 36 in. Belt Sander model BD4083
When everything is working it is a great product (I did not compare it to $500+ models). I found out that there are 2 main models (by all vendors) the one from Rayobi, Harbor Fright, skill, etc. and the second type by Vevor, backtool, ricon, porter cable. the first type are driven by belt and use 6" disk, the second type use direct drive, and 8" disk. The belt tension arm look very similar between the two types, All made in china. Reading many reviews I ruled out type 1, that use belt for the motor to spin the disk and sanding belt. Adding another part that will go bad after reasonable use. and also loss of power between the motor and the grinding wheels. I ordered the Vevor BD4083 for $169, as similar units were $210, $279 and $249. The BD4083 came with disk plate that was not flat, and about 2mm higher on one side. While waiting for the company to send another disk, I got the porter cable from Lowe's (that comes with 3 years warranty). Open the box of Porter cable unit, the disk was bent about 5mm on one side, completely unusable. I took it back. I did get the 8" disk plate from Vevor, and it is flat, and both the disk and the belt works great. I used it with hard wood, 80 grid belt, and 120grit on the disk, it works better than expected. Both trays are stable, and do not move or change angle. the differences in type #2 brands brands is the price, some use aluminum sanding belt drive, other use made of plastic (Vevor use plastic, Porter cabe Aluminum), the vacuum attach ports is different between the brands , and base made of metal or cast iron, (Vevor use metal base). On the Vevor, you can pull out the sanding belt easy, no disconnecting parts/tray to pull out. on the porter cable, you need to use a screw driver to pull the cover to remove the belt. On the bucktool and Ricon 50-114 you have to remove the tray. The dust collection port is different between the brands, but when grinding dust covers everything anyhow. the belt 4x36 and the 8" disk that come with the unit are high quality. I did get fast response from Vevor reps, almost daily e-mail. I do recommend the BD4083 The Vevor BD4083 is powerful machine, good value for you money, direct drive (no driving belt). I wish that the trays would be similar to the Porter cable, or use standard miter channel.

Very Pleased With This Sander
I have used a much older Craftsman sander this size but needed one for my shop. I've read and heard good things about Vevor machines and decided to give this one a try. The price was one of the best I found for this sander. I've used it several times now and really like the quality of the machine. It comes with an 80 grit belt and I believe the disc is also 80 or 60 grit. You have to be careful because of the coarse grit, to not take too much wood off, it happens fast. I ordered more belts for mine with much finer grit options for finish sanding, I can see this helping same me lots of time in the future on my projects.

Great 4 home use
Folks, I very seldom leave reviews, but this is the exception. There were a few reviews that were so negative about the seller advertising an 8'' disc that the seller sends them out with a 6'' disc, a video with defective information indicated vsam, and way down the page confirmed the negativity & defectiveness suggestion that there will be a 6'' disc arriving. I contacted the seller, and they stated that their information at the top of the page was correct about this machine having an 8'' disc. Well, out of a great many I considered, this machine is the only one with great features, so I ordered one. Well, the bloody box actually says a 6'' disc, but guess what... there was found an 8'' disc! This machine operates really great, and I have tweaked some projects already. I am a master union craftsman, & I highly recommend this unit!!! It operates with smoothness, is not very loud, and the size is compact. There is one tiny issue... The black plastic guard for the 8'' disc, snugging up the screws, putting it back on, will crack the guard from the screw holes to the edge. Easy does it. Still a great machine, get ya one!!! Oh, BTW, I found an orange Allen Wrench and added cable straps to hold the wrench.

Solid build, quiet and a good value BUT is it NOT an 8" disc as described!!
First and foremost it is NOT an 8" disc sander. It is a 6" disc sander! The size is clearly marked on the shipping box. See the photo. The build quality is good. There is a switch on the end that seems to have no function. It is marked with two positions. One reads Belt the other reads Disc. It seems to not be connected to anything! What the heck? It is not in the instruction manual nor in the parts list. It does actually have a printed manual that is well written. It was very easy to assemble and adjust. I am still puzzled about the non-functioning switch. See the photo

So far so good
Ran it a few times, once for about 30 minutes straight. It got a little hotter then I liked, but continued to run fine.

Originally I gave this item 1 star because I ordered this VEVOR Professional Belt Sander as a gift for my husband. The first order arrived within a week and contained a POND LINER (of all things)! I returned that and asked for a replacement. The replacement arrived in a week and the belt sander arm was BROKEN OFF of the machine! By this time my husband was aware of his "surprise" and told me to just ask for a refund, but he really like the size and write up of this particular machine. Sooo, I've ordered machine #3 and am hoping 3 times is the charm! I will update this review when the VEVOR Professional Belt Sander arrives within the next few days. UPDATE this time the Professional Belt Sander arrive and everything was found in good order. My husband has been using it now for 2 weeks and is VERY PLEASED with it. It's just the right size for his table and it has a very stable weight to it. I think the problems are all related to the warehouse staff. After all who picks up a pond liner instead of a Belt Sander and who sends out a broken machine!

Good quality

Very impressed with the build quality for that price, power is decent, takes as much pressure on the belt as the commercial one I use at work. I like that the vacuum port switches from belt to disk giving max removal as I'm using it for metal, 4 stars because the disk surface could be machined a little better but works fine, do not like the philips head retaining screw for the disk, change for hex or torks LHT

The sander was easy to assemble and adjust. The weight and rubber feet make it easy to use without bolting it to the workbench. It’s a very sturdy tool which should survive years of use. I like the fact that it has a TEFC motor unlike other brands that allow the sanding dust to pass over the motor. It would be nice if more than one grit of sandpaper was included. A highly recommended purchase.
