Top of the line!
These are awesome cameras, I bought 3 x5's for Gaussian Splatting and the x5 works great. I love that I can replace the lenses myself if they break or get scratched up. BUY YOUR OWN, GOOD SD CARDS! I did have an error about slow speeds with the SanDisk Extreme, but never any issues with the Extreme Pro. This only happened when shooting in 8k 30 and 5.7k 60... The low light sensors are almost as good as the one rs 360 1 inch version, but these are more water resistant, and I seem way more durable while being much lighter. Color and image quality is good, but there is still a hint of stitching even in post, so watch for that! All of that weight adds up on the end of a selfie stick, and this is much more portable then the 1inch model. Overall, this is a great camera, and a good price point!

A Powerful Tool for Content CreatorsAcross the Board
When I review a product, it is because I bought it myself with my own money. I don't generate reviews with Al or accept freebies from companies just to write fluff pieces. With that out of the way... As someone who produces video content for both personaand commercial use, I've worked with nearly every major action and 360° camera system on the market. The Insta360 X5 is the first one that truly bridges the gap between convenience and professional-grade results. Let's start with image quality. The 8K resolution paired with the bigger sensors delivers exceptionally clean footage, even in mixed lighting. I've used it for outdoor shoots, indoor interviews, and low-light environments, and the footage consistently holds up. Colors are accurate, dynamic range is surprisingly strong for a camera this size, and the PureVideo mode is a genuine leap forward in nighttime performance. What really makes the X5 stand out, though, is the post-production flexibility. With 360 capture, I can shoot first and choose my framing later. Yes, it's basicly Insta360's slogan, but it's a slogan that's actually true. This functionality (which is inherent in 360° cameras) is invaluable during run-and-gun shoots where reshoots aren't .an option. Insta360 Studio has matured into a powerful, reliable editing tool, and the mobile app is fast becoming a go-to when I need to deliver social-ready content quickly. Audio has also seen a big step up. The built-in micsare far more usable now, with better clarity and less wind distortion-a major win for those of us tryiing to minimize gear on the go.

Absolutely stunning camera!!! the Insta360 X5 was my road trip’s MVP! Highly recommended!
I just took the Insta360 X5 on a road trip, and it completely changed the way I document my travels. With Drive Mode, I was able to capture silky-smooth, stabilized footage of the entire journey—no extra gear or crazy setups required. InstaFrame let me pick out standout moments and share them instantly, so I skipped the usual hours of post-editing. As night began to fall, I switched into PureVideo mode and was blown away by how well it handled low-light scenes—crisp, vibrant 8K video with almost no noise, all thanks to its AI-driven noise reduction and dynamic range boost. The still shots were equally stunning, packed with rich detail and true-to-life colors that perfectly conveyed the mood of each vista. With its intuitive controls and flexible shooting options, the X5 turned my trip into a breeze to capture—and a joy to relive.

excellent stabilization
Great 360 camera with excellent stabilization and sharp video quality. The starter bundle includes everything needed to begin shooting right away. Battery life is decent, and the waterproof design is a big plus. Perfect for travel, sports, and social media content.

Neat camera.
Takes some really cool pictures and videos. You will need an sd card for it. Upgraded from x3 to this and it is a big difference. Did really well with low lighting videos.

Best 360 camera I've ever purchased!
I have owned many Insta360 cameras. The Insta360 X5 is by far my favorite so far. Image quality is exceptional. Battery life is really impressive too. I've used the X4 extensively, and that one had pretty decent battery life as well. But the X5 blows it out of the water. The stabilization is insane. No matter what you do, it will always look stable. Also, the phone app is really really really good. Hands down one of the best apps I've ever used, and it's free! It makes editing super fun and easy for someone that doesn't have an editing background. Pros: 8K resolution Durable (they say it has stronger lenses) Battery life Surprisingly good editing options Cons: more expensive than other action cameras File sizes: 8K videos eat up storage (get a high-capacity microSD card or the Insta360+ cloud service) Beginners might find the learning curve steep, but the payoff in creativity is huge. If you're serious about 360 content or vlogging, the X5 is worth every penny. 100% recommend!!

Great for low-lighting, easy to use, a plethora of options. Absolutely recommend!
Okay wow, I am impressed. I have a close friend who uses the X4 for her motocycle videos and when the new X5 dropped I knew I had to get it. I am using this primarily to record DJ sets/gigs, and other slice-of-life things. Recording in lower lighting for sets at night is a priority and I am blown away with the quality of the PureVideo recordings I have made. Everything is clear and well-lit, and I love that I am able to capture the decks and the dancing then edit between the entire 360 of shots. The X5 and iPhone app were both very easy to set up, and the editing is intuitive. This really opens up a huge range of possibilities. Also, the gesture control is super fun! There are just so many options to play around with and customize to your needs in each setting. Definitely recommend!

I got into 360 cameras when the ONE X came out and loved them ever since. The X5 is a great camera and takes stunning 360 videos. Imported into a VR Headset they look great. For Multi-Media they are fantastic and the Free apps are the best. This is the best 360 for low light shots and the replaceable lenses are a game changer... Now they say 8K (4K sensors x 2) but the capture is circular so 15-20% of the sensor is unused by the lens so it is really 6.5k or so not 8K but still the images look great just don't expect to zoom in a lot in post because the resolution is just not there. Still, I only use this camera these days in place of my DSLR and action cams...

The first thing I noticed was the big improvement in low-light performance. It has dual 1/1.28″ sensors and three AI chips. Shadows now show detail, highlights don’t get washed out, and there is much less noise compared to the X3 or even the X4. They have now added a new feature in the last software upgrade called ‘Adaptive Tone’, which is supposed to improve even further, but I have not had a chance to try it yet. One of my favourite new features is InstaFrame Mode. It provides a ready-to-share flat 1080p video in selfie-view or fixed mode, while also capturing a full 360° file at 5.7K at 30 fps. So if you need quick social clips but want to revisit the full reframed version later, you’re all set. Then there's the replaceable lens design. I often worry about scratching equipment and have dropped my camera on several occasions. I don’t like to use lens shields as I do believe this compromises quality. Let's face it, with my DSLR expensive lenses of £2,700, would you put a £10 filter on the front? Well, I hope not! Being able to pop off and swap lenses myself, without having to ship the whole camera, is a total game-changer. Battery life and heat management have improved, too. The battery is more powerful, but the camera needs it, so it’s not going to last the whole day. It needs more power than the X3, and I think battery time is a little better on the X3. If I am honest, the cameras do as usual, get hot, but x2/x3/x5, I have never had any issue with the camera switching off. Now, let’s talk about PureShot in photos. This new AI-powered HDR-like mode blends exposures in one shot. The results are vibrant and crisp, with far fewer blown highlights. It works beautifully in low light, especially at night or in backlit scenes, without needing manual exposure bracketing. In short, upgrading from the X3 made sense because the X5 doesn’t just refine; it redefines. You get cleaner 8K and 5.7K footage, smooth 4K 120fps slow motion, InstaFrame convenience, PureShot brilliance in stills, waterproof durability, better audio with a built-in wind muffler, and easy repairability, all in the same sleek design. Here’s why I upgraded from the X3: Low-light boost: Much cleaner images with higher dynamic range due to upgraded sensors and AI. PureShot mode: One-shot HDR style photos that are vibrant and ready to edit. InstaFrame mode: Simultaneous flat and 360 capture cuts down editing time. Replaceable lenses: Less worry about accidents, cheaper and faster to fix. Better battery and thermal control: Longer shooting sessions and fewer shut downs. If your content depends on flexibility, light performance, and ease of use, especially for low-light or quick social uploads, the X5 is worth the upgrade. The sample video was shot at Fantasy Forest Festival. There is a water droplet on some sections, as it was raining at that time

Best sports camera ever had. Easy to use. No adjustment needed to get the right frame. All can be done in the 360 studio. Need a little bit of time to get used to navigate the 360 Studio, to do the editing. Once you get the hang of it, it's a breeze.
