Good stone, don’t abuse it.
This was great for pizza and bread in the oven and the grill… until my son broke it using it to make our grill an indirect heat smoker. Don’t do that with it. After a few hours on the grill, when the drippings hit it, the heat shock was too much and it fractured (though even broken it worked pretty well for that for a couple of weeks). He also broke a really expensive pampered chef stone the same way. You know, just to make sure that was the problem. Can’t beat the price. But I think steel or cast iron actually is better in every way as it transfers the heat better. Especially for pizza in a blazing hot oven.

Awesome stone for pizza on the grill
Have been making pizza on this stone on various gas/pellet grills for months now. LOVE IT! After seeing the results I have gotten on it, I have been recommending it to everyone. With the way I have it setup, I have seen it withstand direct heat to it upwards of 700 F and has performed flawlessly. It does get some char marks on it from the flour/dough, but that is just "seasoning". I simply use a grill brush to clean it off (NEVER WATER!!) and it's good to go for the next time.

Exactly What I Needed
I use pizza stones throughout the years, and I bought this one to replace the cracked one I have in my outside pizza oven. It's even better than the old one. Some of my (indoor) stones are too thick to heat properly -- they can take an hour to get fully hot -- but this one is neither too thin nor too thick. In the pizza oven, it's ready to go after 30 minutes and may even get fully hot before that. If you've never before used a pizza stone: Never wash with either soap or water. The stone is porous and will absorb those. The water can crack the stone when it expands with heat, and the soap can flavor future pizzas. Simply scrape clean after use. Yes, the stone will get stained over time, but it won't pose a health hazard. Also, pizza stones need to be preheated, started in a cold oven to prevent cracking, and must get fully hot to ensure a crisp bottom. -- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

Affordable, basic pizza stone
I wasn't in the market for an expensive pizza stone - I'm not sure what you get when you pay more? I have had a few of these (I keep dropping then and breaking them) and this one seems very good. It's a good size, although if you're planning to make an XL pizza, this probably isn't for you. It seems solid enough (don't drop it) and easy enough to clean. I recommend this if you're looking for a basic, affordable pizza stone.

Superb ! Use corn meal under the pizza - best pizza ever !
Superb ! Figured out my oven was off by 15 degrees - so it's important to calibrate your oven ! I put a light coating of dry corn meal on the stone - and let it preheat in the oven. Then add the pizza. Cripsy, crusty -- delicious pizza. I buy a 4 pack of the breadcrumb crust pizza from the big "C" club for $12 - and add my own toppings. This pizza rivals regular pizza shops. This stone is perfect for small pizzas. I read to never put it in water. Just scrap it off with a plastic scraper - and store it in the oven -- it won't hurt for it to be in there even when you're baking other stuff. Over time, it will become "aged" from the pizza and that makes it even more perfect. NEVER coat it with oil -- just the corn meal.

Wonderful in oven or grill
As is common with grilling stones, these are hard to clean. Still works and has gone through cycles in the grill and the oven. You have to let the pizza stone get hot before you actually add your pizza to it. Gets our pizza crust just right.

Perfectly baked
I actually bought this as a cookie maker and not a pizza maker. I have found that the pizza stone works 100 times better for making cookies than it does as a pizza stone

Warning!!!! This stone is 3/8" thick not 3/4"!!!!!
Get a ruler Cuisinart. The thickness of this stone is .385 " on a caliper. If you want to include the small raise rings on bottom in is .40". it should measure .75" based on description. If you think you are getting something thick think again. Bought 2 of these thinking for the $ I could put them side by side in the grill (without sacrificing thickness)rather than buying one of the large square or rounds that were more expensive. I expected them to be relatively close to the stated thickness. We will see what the seller does from this point on. Thought I would share a more accurate description so others don't go through the hassle of getting something unexpected and having to return it. Update: After a couple emails finally got contact with seller Beach Camera by waiting on hold 20 minutes. When told the product they are selling didn't match description was told I could send it back. So far so good. Would receive prepaid FedEx shipping in email in a day or so. Okay. Received instructions and shipping info. The nearest acceptable FedEx drop off location is 29 miles from where I live. It's a 2 hour round trip and $15 in gas to send back. I asked how this was an acceptable scenario in an email. I was told if I can track down and stop a FedEx driver, show them my email that says it's okay, and get them to scan the email and box that would work. I guess I'll drive around for the next couple weeks with it in my car and hope for the best. May all be a lost cause. All because I thought I'll save $1 and buy 3rd party instead of prime. Never again! Avoiding this is what I'm paying Amazon prime for. If you still want to get this product. Buy it through some one else, other than Beach Camera, unless you have an approved FedEx drop off nearby. 6/12/2015 I asked beach camera to discount the product as it wasn't as described and there wasn't a reasonable way to get it back to them. They knocked $5 off the stones. That was a nice gesture. Between that and the hassle and cost of sending it back I decided to keep these and get something better later. The stones themselves are cleanly made. They worked as I expected. First pizzas had okay(not great but passable) results with crisping the bottom of a very thin crust Tuscan style pizza I am trying to replicate. It's almost like a cracker crust, but to top is very wet because of the san marzano's and fresh mozz. Second pizza limp and no crisp what so ever. There just isn't enough thermal mass to maintain temp and absorb the moisture. Will most likely have to wait 10 minutes or so for stones to get up to temp. Not ideal for a family of 4.

this does exactly what it should. made a pizza on the BBQ and it came out with a super golden, crispy crust. (made the dough from scratch in the bread maker) It cooked very quickly and came out perfect. We also bought a huge metal spatula thing which helped get it on and off this stone. 10 minutes of preheating and 10 minutes of cook time and voila. the perfect crispy crust pizza. havta love that.

Works well - just heat in oven when preheating for boxed pizza, slide pizza on, bake according to box instructions, slide pizza off. Makes a nice crust on pizza. Store stone in oven on bottom rack, even when using oven for other things - no need to take it in & out of oven.
