Silky GomBoy Professional Folding Saw 240mm Medium Teeth (121-24)

This is the best folding saw I've ever used! It is sharp as all hell and rips through logs of small 1-4 inch diameter with almost no effort, it is capable of cutting through bigger stuff, but you have to be carefull as it becomes much easier to bind the blade on thicker 5 inch and up logs. As a million reviewers have already mentioned it only cuts on the pull, so your push stroke needs to be pretty gentle since that is where you are putting the most strain on the blade and you could bend it, this really shouldn't be a problem for you if you unless you are a total bonehead. Basically if the blade is starting to get stuck you are either cutting something too thick, or you need to put some downward pressure on the the piece you are trying to cut off cause the wood is pinching the blade. The grip is super comfortable, and the locking mechanism seems very strong and is easy to use. The blade has double rows of teeth that are scary sharp and very nicely machined, it looks like it ought to last a good while before I have to replace it, honestly I don't think your average person would be able to sharpen it without special tools, but maybe I'll see what Google has to say on the subject. Overall I'm pretty impressed with the design and quality of this tool, I've carried it on my last few backpacking trips and it's already become an essential part of my kit. If you order this from a Japanese seller like I did just keep in mind that it will take about 3 weeks for you to get it. I'll update this review in 6 months or so to give some idea of how well my silky holds up.

***************Update 05-07-2019******************* I've used this thing on just about everything now and it's still a Vicious Little Cutter. I give it 7 stars out of five. ******************************************************** Having acquired this saw for my bug out bag, I found it to be a constant little buddy when working in the back yard. Recently set a dozen fence posts along a property line infused with low hanging/spreading coniferous branches along the entire way. This little "Sawz-all" carved a 3' fence[work] path magnificently. For hardwoods like dogwood, branch removal left a smooth, properly-angled cut to the tree .. with minimal effort. And that's the point .. this tool wasn't designed to give its users a workout but rather a fast, efficient result with minimal effort. So when I'm outside, this little rascal often stays in my back pocket; just too handy to not have along. If the price is your beef, get over it. This is an awesome little tool built many years of pruning if used thoughtfully. The only complaint is the kind-of-dumb plastic storage container it comes with. Nobody's going to strap a goofy hinged thing on a belt; a simple kydex sheath would be way better. But other than that, get this saw. You'll use it for almost your pruning/cutting needs. *********************************************************************** 11-18-2019. Update. Still love this cutter. It's absolutely a vicious little tool and I carry it every time we head out of state to the in-laws. Having used it extensively in backyard cleanups, it's still as sharp as the day I got it. A tad expensive but worth every dime.

This is a great saw. I bought it back in 2016 to trim back branches along local trails and paths and it's been great for that purpose. It quickly cuts through branches up to 4-5 inches, and is compact and light enough that I almost always carry it in my day pack when I go hiking. After nine years of being used at least a few times a week, it still performs just as well as the day I got it. Highly recommended!

The teeth on this Gomboy Say are very sharp. when cutting on the push stroke its easy and does not bind. on the pull stroke I can feel the teeth grabbing the wood and cuts vigorously . I took this saw with me on a kayak trip this afternoon, knowing that there was two trees that had been pushed over from flooding, causing the tree and limbs to ob-stuck the water passage for Kayakers causing many kayakers to turn over in the rapids.. I was able to cut both tree limbs out of the way with no problems. both limes was about 6 to 8 inches round. I was amazed on how well this saw cut with ease. We have used regular hand saws before and it took 2 to 3 times as long and the hand saw would always bind up continuously. The only issue I had was the tip of the blade of this Gomboy saw broke off. The saw did not get in a bind and I never felt it hit anything hard. Over all, I would recommend this saw to any one that needs a good dependable saw. I contacted amazon, explained to them what happened, with out any hesitation or hassle, Amazon is shipping me a new one in the mail - 2 day delivery. and gave me a free return shipping slip to return the broken one.

After a few years of “casual” research I pulled the trigger on this one. I was hesitant because I WAS a through and through axe/machete/hatchet man. What good could a puny Asian-made gardener’s folding saw do, after all??? Sometimes it feels good to be wrong. Lol This saw cuts through green wood like a hot knife through butter. I use it a lot here lately. Great for making wooden mallets and tarp stakes. I really can’t believe it took me so long to finally purchase one. Many, many, many years ago when I was in the Scouts, we had a very dull one that our scoutmaster let us use for bush crafting. I guess that’s why I never have been partial to a folding saw. It sucked backsides. This Silky has sure changed my mind. Great saw, ok plastic “confusing” sheath. I replaced the blade the other day and it was an extremely simple task. Scary sharp, again, scary sharp. Seriously, could actually be used as a defensive weapon in a bind. I carry it with me when my sons and I go out in the woods. FYI, it only cuts when you pull, not push. This knowledge comes in handy and will curb any frustration. I truly enjoy using it. I hope this helps someone. : )

Ich brauche eine Säge mit der ich sowohl Baumschnitt als auch Bretter und Kanthölzer präzise sägen kann ohne gleich ein riesen Sortiment an elektrischen Geräten zu kaufen. Desweiteren finde ich die Mobilität sehr praktisch. Außerdem sind beim einklappen die Zähne immer gut geschützt. Die Säge hat mir nun gute Dienste geleistet. Ich habe Tonenweise Bretter und Kanthölzer gesägt. Jeder Schnitt ist dabei super präzise und muss so gut wie nie nachgeschliffen werden. Außerdem habe ich eine ganze Menge Bäume beschnitten. Ein 10 cm Buchenast ist in 20 sec abgesägt. Auch hier ist der Schnitt super glatt. Also ich bin noch immer total begeistert und hoffe nun das die Säge lange scharf bleibt. Meinen Ebenso teuren Fuchsschwanz kann ich getrost liegen lassen, da er in keiner Disziplin der Silky Säge das Wasser reichen kann. Es wird auch sicher nicht die letzte Silky Säge gewesen sein.
