A Letdown compared to Swokowski E13 or Stewart's E4 Algebra & Trigs
I reviewed this book a while back, but with the Pandemic I've been back to homeschooling again and often come back from Calculus to review Algebra & Trig topics and this book has too many holes compared to Swokowski's Edition 13 or Stewart's Edition 4 (which even look better). I think Larson depends to much on Online Support and the book itself is just a shell. Also, most of the time the Online Support is a marketing mirage because unless you buy the Key AND you get a Voucher from a Local University the publisher won't even give you access to the material... it is bait to buy the book but you end up with just a second rate book. Also, it seems that Larson also believes that Edition 10 was a rush job. There is ALREADY an Edition 11 and the ink on my Edition 10 is still wet. But I wouldn't by Edition 11 either. The Big Attraction of Edition 10 was it was hardbound and only $100. But Edition 11 is $250 and in the "What's New" section is was just more Online Support Crap, and not a word about how they decided to match Swokowski or Stewart in just having a stand alone Textbook that covers a lot of subject matter.Larson's Calculus Book is also kind of weird compared to recent Stewart or Thomas Editions. Is he too proud to look and see what his competition is doing? Too proud to think he might have to be the one to play Catch Up.....................(Old Review from before....)I've been homeschooling myself in math. I'm retired and want to prepare up for a second career teaching math, if somehow my social security and modest pension somehow end up useless because of More Tax Breaks For the Phucking Rich. But, the University had a Senior Program but I still had to pass a Math Screening Test. I had used Swokowski Edition 13e (along with a Development Math Text... so I could understand the Swokowski), but, yeah, that book worked but over the course of a few years, I beat it into tatters. Now I am homestudying for Calculus II (I escaped Calculus I with an A, but only after a mid-semester struggle and a heroic comeback with the Final, BUT that was after I had mostly homestudied for a great deal of Calculus I. I was not at that same level for Calculus II. So I got the Larson Calculus 11e (see that review) . but I saw the Larson "Algebra and Trig" and it was less than $100 ( I suppose that the edition is so new that no University has picked it up as an assigned text yet, and so they have the book priced low for bait). It described well, so I bought it. Yeah, great! It is a newer fresher edition then Swokowski and half the price. I am keeping it as a reference, but I went through the chapters and sections and everything is there and I took some time to page through and it looks professional. I've been deeply involved with the Larson Calculus 11e and so I have respect for the author and publisher. I like it.

Excellent book for the advanced HS student ready for Alg 2 and Trig.
In a different class than his ubiquitous Core Algebra 2 book which is extensively simplified. This is an excellent treatment of Algebra and Trig leading to a robust foundation for Pre-calc. Very well written.
