DriveSmart Pro HD GPS Fixed & Mobile Speed Camera Detector With Inbuilt Dash Camera

This item works well, it will power on and off with the ignition, there's no internal batteries, so no worrying to mess about having to power it on and off, fit and forget. The alerts are clear enough to hear at all speeds (though my car is quiet), the updates are easy enough to manage. There's a dark mode so the display is off unless approaching a camera site whereupon it'll alert and display the legal speed limit for the site and your current speed, with another warning if you are above the legal speed limit. Much easier to use than a mobile phone or GPS unit if all you require is a speed camera alerts with the added bonus of a high quality dash camera too.

Initially I had some issues with the unit jamming and giving full audio warnings but after speaking directly to the suppliers help desk all was sorted following a system update that took only a few minutes.The people at the help desk were very knowledgeable and talked me through the update.I am happy to say it does what it says on the box but particularly like the fact the camera functions & records in high quality whilst the unit is set for speed camera alerts.It certainly is a device that will help you to stay within the correct speed limits.

I've had a NextBase dash cam for several years and it's been great but having had two variable speed tickets in the last few months I wanted a speed camera detector to help keep me safe. I didn't want lots of clutter on the dash, so what better than a dash cam and speed camera detector in one. I'd read the reviews and was nervous about buying this product but decided to take the plunge anyway. I was very excited when it arrived and on first impressions it looked a similar size and shape to the NextBase. I plugged it in and all seemed promising, I got a nice chime and welcome message and then it died. Each time I powered the same thing happened. I decided to leave it power for a while and tried again later. Eventually it did power up and I begin to navigate through the menus to familiarise myself with it's functionality. I flicked between camera and MPH screen display and then nothing. The blue power button let me know when I was switching the unit on and off but that was it. I'm now in the process of returning and getting a refund. I'm plumbed for the Cheetah C550 which seems an altogether better product but can't express how disappointed I am that the DriveSmart didn't work. Come on DriveSmart pull your finger out. Great concept poorly delivered. Avoid until they've got this sorted.

Very impressed with this detector,The first day of using and I have been saved from a ticket already!Mobile laser van was hiding just behind a road sign,The warning distance I have set to is 800m and it alerted when I was coming upto it.Very clear voice alerts of the type of camera you are coming to along with the speed limit + if your travelling over the speed limit for the camera site it gives a voice alert and speed on the display changes to red.Nice clear display that is easy to see with the distance to the camera displayed with a count down bar, also in real time meters are counting down.It has detected all the camera's I have come to including the new Hadecs smart motorway and new temporary Specs along the M4 by Maidenhead.DVR playback is easy and the software shows where you have been on the google maps along with g-forces and GPS .location.This is without doubt a must purchase if you want a good speed camera detector linked to a brilliant HD DVR

So far used it for two days it has missed 5 cameras that have been there for years that are working and my old one used to inform you about, gives the wrong speed warnings in areas where on a country lane it’s 60 it’s tell me it’s 30 and I am driving to fast. It tells me one section of road is 40 and it is 30. For the money it should be a lot better than this. You also have to angle it off the mount at an angle as the clip to remove it is in the way of it being straight.

1.In order to be safe on the roads today it is necessary to have the most up to date information. I want to know the current speed of the road I’m travelling on. And the location of cameras that are, not what they were. The data is so far out of date that all I'm getting is false warnings. IE; locations of cameras that have been replaced years a go. Are still being indelicate, not the ones that are now there. What is kneaded is the ability to detect live detection systems with a good distance to there location for the times when you could have inadvertently gone over the limit.. What good is location data that has been superseded by a live person with a laser gun? Dash cam recording: No night vision incorporated, therefore no quality night recording. My head lights light up the number plate’s reflective surface and the numbers are not visible on the playback. Most of the time the vision is dark. My previous dash cam as good night vision. And I'm going to have to mount it alongside the detector to record any night journeys. Would I recommend this detector? Not a chance in H…l.

Positives, Easy to set up, alerts in plenty of time for cameras on the right side of the road. So all in all it does what it;s advertised to do. The negatives. The sound is very tinny and the volume could be better, the volume was set to 10 so I assume that's the maximum. With music playing in car you can hear the device but not what they are saying. The front of the camera advertises that it is a DriveSmart Pro so, if like me you live in a major City with high levels of crime this screams out "hey, look at me, I'm a £140 piece of kit" Therefore I will have to take it down every time I park on the street which is pretty much everyday.
