12 volt continuous power (ie yellow radio wire) then to toggle, then out toggle to + lead on light, then to ground from light. works good, not a wire expert so at your own risk. mine works good with this wiring method.

Not sure but I looked at it first before drilling. Pretty small. Like 5mm diameter?

you could try a 9v battery, might work, there is sometimes a +/- tolerance for voltage to make things work, that said, it is listed as 12v, so your own risk if it doesn't work. I'm sure you could wire in a toggle switch.

Probably a long time off the car battery. 10mA is small. Something similar I have with a flashing red LED lasts two months just on two AAA batteries.
