Plus Flea and Tick Treatment for Small Dogs Upto 5 to 22 lbs. 3 Treatments

Horrible product, first it doesn’t work and second it gave my dog chemical burn.

Good stuff! My 12 lb Chi- mix was not very infested but he chewed occasionally. In the past week he was chewing more often. We meet dozens of dogs every day in our urban environment so I thought I’d better jump on this. I’ve seen the reviews that mention it doesn’t work, counterfeit product, etc. Not the case for me. Once delivered, there’s a QR code that you can scan on the actual product box with the transparency app that shows as a choice to click under the delivery completed page. I scanned mine & all the lot codes corresponded and it shows that the product was manufactured in France. Frontline corporate told me they don’t have expiration dates, so if you find one on your box, it’s most likely fake. Just sayin. Teddy has stopped scratching and we’re both happy. Plus, got the 3-pk for $27 on Black Friday deal. Thank you AMZ! 🙂

I began using Frontline Plus because of a terrible flea problem, I had with my two smallish dogs. I've tried Hartz (which actually worked for a few months, but I still wouldn't recommend because of the apparent health risks. i didnt know about such things at the time, obviously), Adams (which is pretty much lemon scented water that was diluted more and more through each stage of treatment), and various powders and sprays (all of which sucked, and one even burned a hole through a cotton bag I had stored it in. Now THAT is scary.) So, that's why I decided to fork over the extra cash and bought Frontline Plus. I was at the end of the line, and my dogs were suffering because of my frugality. Frontline Plus is WORTH the cash (although I haven't tried other similarly priced items, so I couldn't say Frontline is of better quality than those, just stay away from the cheap stuff)... and I'll tell you why: This product brought relief to my poor pups, unlike the suspicious "wait and see" stuff. Even after having initially felt cheated, my dogs were relieved and noticeably more upbeat, and in the end that's what matters most. After reading reviews and the pamphlet insert, I had expected the issue to have been mostly resolved within a week, as we had already treated our entire apartment upon applying the product. This was not the case. It took at least 2 weeks to notice a change, not immediate like so many reviewers imply. (I was still seeing fleas on the dogs a week after application.) BUT following the two weeks, the fleas were GONE! Every last one of them! No more new bites on my dogs bellies and no more insane scratching. It works, just gradually (which is realistic anyhow). Now the reason I knocked off a star is this: the product information included in the packaging, notes that Frontline works to repel and kill fleas for up to two months. Well... from the date of first application, the products effectiveness diminished two weeks into the second month, that's a month and 1/2 after first applying. Now, I didn't receive results until after week 2 of the first month... so my animals were only protected for approximately 4 weeks... that's ONE month. Frontline HAS to be used continuously, no matter what it says it kills, for however long. There's a strange 2 week leeway period after the first application, and if you hold off on the next dosage (more than one week) you WILL see fleas (if your pets engage in regular activities and socializing and such, I presume. I'm not sure if it would have been an issue if the dogs were not more active outside there living area.)

For full disclosure this is for 23-44 lb dogs. Yes, I have read about the Frontline mimics on the EPA site (Google Frontline and EPA). My Frontline was bought from Drs. Foster and Smith and did not have the indicators of the fake products. So do not be fooled into thinking all negative reviews of Frontline are about forgeries. I had heard from my vet that fleas were becoming immune to Frontline. I had used Frontline Plus with two previous dogs. I lost my second dog in February 2012 and got a 8 week puppy in April. Frontline had effectively eliminated and prevented any flea infestation for over 20 years, when combined with rug spraying. Since I didn't have fleas to worry about, I was using the remaining Frontline Plus on my puppy when she grew big enough. About 5-10 years previous I had found two ticks on my Frontline Plus treated dog, both dead, neither particularly engorged with blood. Whereas, with a Hertz product I had tried, I found live ticks next to where it was applied. A camping trip October 2012 to Cape Cod proved to me beyond doubt that Frontline Plus also no longer worked on ticks. I was not duly warned by the Nickerson State Campsite how severe their tick problem was. The Frontline Plus had only been on my dog for two weeks. I pulled more than thirty ticks off my dog during the week and the week after I returned. 15 were engorged with more than 7 at what is shown in pictures as fully engorged. Merriel makes a big deal about the tick needing to be on the dog for a certain amount of time before it will kill them. I may be wrong but the length of time seems to be expanding as the effectiveness goes down. At any rate, if it does not kill the tick before the tick can transmit disease, it is worthless. All insecticides come with a risk, and if it doesn't work you are just applying a poison to your beloved companion. My dog contracted a tick-borne disease: Anaplasmosis.(previously Erlichiosis). Due to my persistence, it was caught early, hopefully early enough to prevent long term effects. Testing and treatment for Lyme and Anaplasmosis are not a sure thing. The best course is prevention. Talk to your vet about what is the best out on the market. I was just authorized for refund of the remaining product which I have to mail back. I was told that they can't put an expiration date on the package because EPA doesn't tell them what to put, and they don't know. Even if it was still working, this is very lame for a company that is selling a toxic product. As an afterthought, in flea combing her to locate ticks, I also pulled out two live fleas. Do not buy this product!

Excellent price. More cost effective for multiple pups

This is no fault of the company that manufactures Frontline. In some parts of the country, fleas have developed an increasing resistance to the current formulation. It simply does not work as well as it used to 15 or 20 years ago. If you live in such an area, don’t bother. Try something else.
