Based on the acclaimed DC Comics graphic novel comes an epic animated movie showcasing Superman’s greatest battle. An asteroid hurtles through our atmosphere and crashes into the ocean, with it arrives an unstoppable force fueled by uncontrollable rage known only as Doomsday! With innocent lives threatened and Metropolis under attack, Batman, Wonder Woman and the rest of the Justice League rally to meet this otherworldly menace. But when the dust settles, only an epic showdown between Superman and Doomsday can decide the fate of Metropolis and ultimately, planet Earth! Review: Best DC animation movie to date - I am very impressed with DC's latest entry and I feel that they nailed all aspects of this great tale perfectly. This film is PG13 but does not shy away from the violence of DOOMSDAY. Any person in his way is murdered....like, really murdered, no mercy, just death. The gruesome stuff happens off screen, but leaves the viewers with little doubt as to the outcome of those interactions. When the fighting starts in the third act of the movie, it is unrelenting and a beautiful ballad of destruction between DOOMSDAY and the Justice League, who are smashed with ease. Wonder Woman shows how bad to the bone she is, but DOOMSDAY is ......DOOMSDAY. The voice work is superb and the animation is clean on Blu-ray. The new 52 costumes are dated now (see comics), but the continuity between all of the past titles is really good. I truly loved the emotion of the characters, the humor, and the flat out action of the biggest brawl since Tyson- Holyfield. Best action of any DC animation movie. There are no pretend deaths for civilians. Civilians are collateral damage and it is shown in the movie, as DOOMSDAY destroys any person in its way (cape or not). The city is drawn with people and is alive, unlike the Teen Titans Vs. Justice League movie where Trigon smashes an empty city with no victims. Wheew!! I have to watch this again to take it all in. 70 minutes flies by. This movie's version of Doomsday is 10x better than the Superman vs Batman movie version. This DOOMSDAY Review: Modernized Version Of The Death Of Superman Comic Book Story - This animated movie is great I thought. It's worth watching just to see how they drew Doomsday in a new way. The entire sequence of how Doomsday came to our world was tremendous. Doomsday first ended up deep under the ocean in this movie. The animation in this movie is beautiful. They draw the girls so beautiful in these animated movies. Wonder Woman and Lex Luthor's assistant Mercy are mesmerizing in this one. I was surprised to hear Superman's friend Bibbo Bibboswki saying the Hail Mary prayer in this movie. This prayer is sort of specific for the Catholic Church. I noticed in the credits at the end of this movie that Marv Wolfman and Jerry Ordway created the Bibbo character. I get the impression that this movie will lead into some other follow on movies. Quite a few things that happen in this one will come up again in the next movie in the series which is Reign Of The Supermen. Movie like this are mainly for kids I think although it's rated PG for some swear words and Doomsday's violent nature. I'm starting to like the animated comic book movies better than the Hollywood versions. This movie left a lot of questions about Doomsday unanswered. I'll be curious to see how those answers come up in some other movies. This movie contains a lot of the elements from the original comic books. I became fascinated with the Death Of Superman comic book story way back in the 90s when this cataclysmic event happened. Those comic books were collected into the trade paperback called The Death Of Superman. Then some follow on comic books revealed Doomsday's unimaginable origins and explain why Doomsday is so mean and why he views Superman as the ultimate threat. I think those later comic books are in the trade paperback Superman: Doomsday. I read them separately when they were called the Hunter / Prey paperbacks. To me this animated movie would translate well into a Hollywood version.

Superb!
This movie is AMAZING! Animation, voice acting (except for Lex), story, pacing, score.... everything was just so well done. I was around for the Death of Superman in the comics. Didn't actually get to read it at the time because of limited funds, but I was there for the hype. Although they tried to incorporate the (New 52?) current story line of the DC Animated movies, and added a lot of the current Justice League characters, it felt like it just added action, while still being able to focus on Lois and Clark, and building their characters. Which made the ending that much more impactful. I've already watched this multiple times, and would still watch again. The only negative I have, as I've mentioned before, is Rainn Wilson as Lex Luthor. He's a good actor, probably, but his voice is just too high-pitched and nerdy for Lex. It just doesn't fit at all. The moment he started talking, all I could see is Dwight Schrute being stupid and whiny. Luckily, as big of a role as he had, he didn't have too many speaking parts. At least, not enough to affect my love of this movie. All-in-all, an exceptionally well made movie, that might be the best yet in the current line of animated movies. Also, I want to point that out. I was wondering who in their right mind would give this a 1-star review, and besides the occasional "purist" who wouldn't like anything short of a page for page adaptation, most of them were people that were shocked to learn this was ::gasp:: ANIMATED! Oh the horror!

Animation
I liked the animation. Huge improvement over the old Bruce Timm era. This is by far the best adaptation of the comic book battle on screen, hands down. The Comic book battle is still superior, but this was good. One of the things that really annoys me is when Superman is written like some idiot chump. Here that was mostly missing. He wasn't giving nearly as good as he got, but this was a huge improvement. I was very disappointed that the Superman Wonder Woman relationship was discarded for the one we've all seen before, but it wasn't surprising. Still, a pretty good movie. Super and Wondy had great chemistry even though they were written to no longer be together. The Justice League looks good. I was glad to see Martian Manhunter, and Hackman on the team.

Super Film!
