I returned it because it was too heavy for my parrot. I took him to the vet and the vet told me to reorder and cut it. It’s now perfect, though the bird hates it.

The product is very pretty. It looks like fleece fabric that has been cut, stacked, and sewed around the neck hole. Since African Greys can over heat easily, the fabric of choice is questionable. The size was good as it covered his neck and about half was down his wings. However, Elmo could not balance with it on. He wasn't able to walk or climb on his cage as it seemed to be too heavy. At first, I thought he was just mad. But, he fell off of his cage. I'm concerned that this product is not safe for our feather babies. May be better for a larger bird like a Macaw.

My African Grey Parrot practically mutilated herself from plucking & I needed to keep her from doing more damage until her Vet visit. I have this bird poncho at 3 stars because it did keep her from doing more damage. However, she has a LOT of trouble moving around with it (she couldn't even perch), kept falling over & worse of all CANNOT eat because it blocks her from bringing food up to her mouth. I ordered the smaller collar to use instead of the poncho because it doesn't hang so far down & I hope it will allow her better movement & the ability to get food to her mouth. But there was a delay in shipping on that product. As it is, I have her in her travel cage with the poncho on so she doesn't hurt herself falling since it DOES prevent her from causing more damage for now. I would only recommend this product for short term use not a daily fix.

I was so happy to find something like this on Amazon, with quick delivery…but unfortunately, it won’t work for me. The bottom layer has cuts in it, all my bird has to do is put his head in between them and he will have easy access to his surgical site. The bottom layer should be one piece, with no cuts, to keep him from being able to get his head through it. Unfortunately, will have to return it. Other than this design issue, it is very nice and seems well made.
