Q: I have a 40 “ waist. What size belt do I need.

The belt is quite stretchy, so a 40” belt should work.

Q: I have 36" waist, What size belt should I order so it will streach just a couple of inches past the first pant noose/loop?

I'm a 36 waist also, and i have 3 of these belts in different colors. I took jimigarners advice and got the 32-34 size and they fit correctly.

Q: What size in inches corresponds to XL?

Up to 43" is a good benchmark. I have an XL, and it comfortably leaves me another . few inches to expand if necessary.

Q: Ordered twice. one set marked 37 on flap opposite buckle. too small. next set marked 45 too large. ordered initially 38-42 size. have 39-40 waist. ??

I wear Levis 34 inch waist and purchased the 34- 38 inch - works great
