Never reports open, only triggered
Although you can make it go up and down using debug commands and it pops up and down on turning on the printer, it only ever reports triggered, never open. My cables are fine; I checked them with a multimeter. I'm also convinced it's not my motherboard.I would say avoid this. I've ordered an AntLabs BLTouch instead.

Rubbish
Stopped working properly after a month. You you waste more time on troubleshooting this thing than on manual bed leveling.

Faulty from the outset.
I bought this legitimate Bltouch to replace a less accurate clone. About one third of the time the sensor doesn't deploy and gives me a flashing red light - this obviously stops the print. The less accurate clone that I used before always deployed - 100% of the time, I am less than impressed with this purchase. I contacted the seller and was fobbed off with being told to check the wiring and firmware - both of which are fine and evidenced by the fact that the previous clone ALWAYS deployed. I am back to using a TL clone which is performing perfectly. They must knock this things out because there obviously hasn't been any QC at all. Returning to seller.Edit*Fixed the unit by turning the top screw anticlockwise by 180 degrees - pity I had to research this issue online as the seller didn't have a clue on how to solve my issue.
