Would this work on a wacky rig?

I don't see why not, but this is a pretty short plastic worm, they make a longer version that would probably have more action. No flip tail on these as well (obviously) so it would be limited wiggle factor being this short. I use this gulp sandworm for inshore beach fishing for Saltwater Perch (Although I have snagged a few Stripers from time to time on it). I don't run a wacky rig on it, I just thread the worm onto a #1 hook (head to tail, and let the business end of the hook protrude from the tail), then I finish it with a Carolina rig (3/4 to 1 ounce barrel weight) with an 18" to 2 foot leader of a good 20# fluorocarbon (like Seaguar, Pline, etc). (I like the 20, 25# leaders as when you get those surf pigs in close you can easily grab it and get them up to unhook them). Also doesn't tangle like a 4#. They really can't see it otherwise. I'm using braid before the barrel swivel and weight as I like the no stretch quality of braid, easier to set the hook and Perch are such voracious feeders they really don't care. Of course, leader length depends on the feeding trough in the surf, if they're really close, and I know with the ebb and tide, and whether or not the tide is coming in or out, depending on average depth I'll vary the leader length. Either way, this pattern, in Saltwater, for some reason is getting the best results; it's like whatever spectrum of UV they can see, they see this pattern the best, or it looks the most delicious I've also noticed it's effectiveness is vastly increased on overcast days versus sunny days, but that could just be a factor of pressure system and whether or not they like to feed more in overcast versus bright sun, which I believe they do (Less predators can see them in both the water and above the water). I've tried the red blood pattern, which works okay, I've tried the white, motor oil, pretty much all of them, and this Camo pattern works the best. I've also tried the 4 or 6" version (can't remember); but typically the longer version just tends to end up being the victim of the "Pesky Annoying Nibblers" and overall just gulp baits of Treacherous thievery. With the longer worm I can't seem to get them to take it all in, this 2" is the perfect happy meal size to get them all, small or large. Good luck; it's a deadly bait. Just remember to keep the sealed side of the pouch "up", cause you'll have one major stink factor on your hands if they leak into your jackets or the front pocket of your wader. :-)
