It is a great little ham radio, I did get a better antenna for it to get more range. I listen to the airport, fire and some police most have gone digital. If the power or phone go out I can still contact people listen to FM radeo and NOAA. I love it

RT-470X , great radio, easy to use , fast charge , unbelievable price and incredible look and functions , sounds good and I'd a bit smaller than the RT-830.Thank You for the amazing radios !

A possible firmware issue? Downloaded BT app from Radtel website; installed on iphone. Turned on BT on radio, menu #55, selected "connect" in app. Found a MAC address instantly then never downloaded. Also, you get a belt clip but no screws. Plus side - NICE display, programs just fine with Chirp, fast scan rate. A bargain if you don't need the BT. Radtel program software brought up a windows error message. (Finding anything on their firmware/software support page is looking for a specific noodle in your Ramen!)

The ham/scanner looks well-built and has great features, but I’m only giving it three stars because I can’t figure out how to use it. The instructions are confusing, and the setup isn’t beginner-friendly. It probably works well, but I wish it came with clearer directions or an easier interface.

Neat radio so far. The frequency range is impressive. Mine came unlocked already. I can't get this to work with CHIRP at all. I did get it to work with the Radtel programming software downloaded off their website. The bluetooth programming with my phone works flawlessly. That said, I don't like having a bunch of different software for different radios. I have a lot of radios and it gets to be a pain. I like it when radios work with CHIRP as much as possible so it's easier to manage and not have a bunch of different programs. My only other issue was getting the audio/mic port cover to stay closed. This is really difficult as it keeps popping out. I really have to press and work it in hard to get it to stick, I'm hopping that this will get better over time. So far this is a neat radio with a lot of options and a great deal for the price!!!
