I thought I lost my first Dr. Meter, so I bought two more, just in case I progress further in my forgetfulness and dissipate in my mental acuity, and lose one down the road. It turned out that my first scale was where it was stored: right in my tackle bag. Duh. I now have three! I chose Dr. Meter again, because I liked its utility and solid build-quality. Given the $10 a piece price, I could not be more satisfied. The hook was a little smaller for large catfish (30 inchers) to efficiently hook into the gill, but I managed to measure them (Ouch for the catfish!). Then I tied a loop with a parachute cord, and I loop it into the mouth, and hook it to measure. Hope it hurts less! The chain link that holds the hook is welded, so it will not unbend and lose a fish. The handle is solidly built, and it will not fail, while lifting up heavy weights. It appears the ounce unit goes by 0.5 and whole ounce. Pound unit in 0.1 pound increment, and the Kg unit to the thousandth below the whole number, as in 2.456 Kg. As for the accuracy, I cannot vouch for it, for I do not have the certified weight to measure the scale's accuracy. But I think the accuracy of Dr. Scale is more than adequate for the the tasks involving household weights and fish. I measured the weight plates, but it is also possible that the weight plates themselves are not very accurately manufactured. I would say, Dr. Meter scale performs within limits of everyday tasks very well. It comes with a self-retracting, built-in 100 centimeter measuring steel tape. This is a very good product to have around. As for the batteries that came with it, I think they last reasonably long. I have not replaced the original yet. I plan to replace them, when the time comes, with the batteries with known brand name. If you are looking for a fish scale, I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Meter.

pros- for another $2-5 much nicer than many cheap ones. Accurate Easy to use Con- Would not recommend getting wet... which the things it weighs (fish) come from a thing called "water" which is pretty wet. (crazy I know). I've had fish slime on this unit and had it rained on, did make some goofy sounds powering on, then went away. Does not talk about water resistance or waterproofing through description. I believe the only true con based on use would be the tape measure being comically small. Why have a 110 pound scale if the tape only goes 38". I would say the tape is a great idea, but it's pretty worthless if you intend to catch fish bigger than 15 pounds, which you are or else you wouldn't order a 110 pound scale. Many can solve this by measuring half the fish and what not, sure that works... But the product should have this solved for you. Make the scale another inch longer to hold another 30 more inches of tape measure and the problem is solved. In respect to luggage use, the tape measure probably is perfect, for fishing, not so much. I would recommend to anyone, given they have room for a real tape measure if fishing for big game.

I love this little scale. It is so easy and simple to operate. Before, I had one of those tiny scales with the tinier than tiny hook that is so difficult to get into the fish's gills. It operates on a spring and the pounds are almost impossible to read. You have to just estimate the weight (almost 2 pounds, or just a little over 3 pounds, for example). No more of that, with this charming beauty! Now I know the accurate weight immediately, to the ounce, or to the tenth of a pound. I should have upgraded a long time ago. The retractable handle is also a blessing, allowing the scale to take up less space in my tackle box. The only reason I gave this scale 4 stars instead of 5 is that it comes with batteries included, but they were deader than a mackerel, so I had to provide my own anyway.

This is a great working scale for the price. I’ve weighed a 17 pound fish with this and it didn’t break the hook or anything. It take a a good reading and is very easy to use.

I've used it s couple of weeks now and it works great. It's a great value and good tool in the tackle box. I like the easy to read screen the battery seems to be long lasting, the scales are good quality and durable. Thank you they are exactly what I wanted

I didn’t have a fish scale but the main reason I bought this was to make a crude torque wrench. Much cheaper than buying an expensive torque wrench I would only use once or twice a year. The handle slides down and the hook snaps to the back so it doesn’t take much room in a tackle box. I don’t really care for the memory feature. To torque a lug nut I slipped a 36” pipe over the handle of my ratchet and hocked the scale to the opposite end. A quick calculation and I knew how much force I needed to get the proper torque.

I used this to measure a recurve bow draw weight. Having read about draw scales exploding in people's hands, I bought this instead. Measurements were consistent, but consistently 2%-5% low. Not a bad deal for the price. I tied two 45lb weights to the scale to test for hand explosions. It handles the 90lbs fine and the initial jerk to raise the weights probably brings the durability past 100lb. It did measure about 1.5lbs low, but it had the same reading each time. The error percentage seems to shrink at higher weights. A 5lb weight measures 4.72lb and 10lbs measures 9.71lbs. Assuming the Weider plates are within the +/- 1% range, the scale is probably 2%-5% off. Oddly, 25lbs was right on the mark. If you want extreme accuracy, get a more expensive scale. If you're using this for luggage, fish, or bows, I would very much recommend it.

Mon truc à moi n'est pas la pêche mais le vélo, avec le souci d'optimiser le poids de ce que j'embarque en virée. A la recherche d'un pèse-bagages, j'ai redécouvert le mot "peson" et j'ai trouvé que les outils pour pêcheurs étaient bien plus intéressants que les gadgets pour voyageurs : plus solides, plus précis, plus économiques/écologiques même (des accus AAA c'est mieux que des piles bouton). Ce modèle-ci, spécialement bien placé, me semble parfait aux premiers essais !
