You'll like it if you like food
I usually don't write reviews, but I was impressed enough to do one here. I pack my lunch every day and don't want to get too tired of sandwiches. I liked my Stanley coffee thermos, so I tried this. As a farmer, more often than I'd like I have to skip meals, and the first time I used it I didn't get to eat lunch until about 6 pm. My soup was still plenty warm enough to eat. This has happened several times, and every time the contents were warm enough. I use it for casseroles and such, not just soup.My only complaint is that the mouth is not all that wide. However I think that is just my personal problem. It is as wide as any other products, and I haven't had any problems eating out of it. I would just like to be able to put more solid food into it at times.Other than that I really like this thing. It is tough enough to stand up to some abuse, easy to clean, affordable, and of course it keeps your food hot. I guess I haven't tried putting cold stuff in there, but I'm sure it works just fine. I highly recommend it.

Great for baby bottles!
We have this and also the Thermos brand one. We use it for heating up our baby's bottle when we're out and about. For that purpose, we much prefer this one over the Thermos brand. Our baby is picky and will only take her formula hot so we use this carry boiling water with us. We had the Thermos brand first and it was soooo difficult to open because of the steam inside and how the top is made. It's difficult to get a good grip on the top since it's smooth. And most of the time the top twists off uneven, so one side twists up but not the other. It's frustrating. My husband would sometimes have to pry it open with a screwdriver to let some steam out in order for the top to twist off. The top on the Stanley is much easier to grip since it's rigid so we haven't had an issue opening it with the boiling water inside. We use Dr. Browns 8 oz bottles and they fit great in the opening with plenty of room for wider bottles. The water stays hot enough for us to heat up 3 bottles throughout the day. The first bottle is usually done within 3 minutes, the second, maybe 5 mins, and the third does take longer, maybe about 10 minutes. We always carry 2 of these if we know we're going to be out long.

Highly recommend!!!
This thermos changed my husband's life!! He was so tired of taking "lunch meat" sandwiches to work everyday. His job is mobile so he is not able to heat his lunch up. This thermos keeps things blazingly hot! So hot in fact, that when he opened his thermos for lunch, sometimes 6.5 hours later, there was steam coming off of the soup and he had to wait to eat it. During the winter months, I poured boiling water in the thermos and let it sit for 15-30 minutes and then emptied it and poured the hot soup into the thermos. My husband complained that it was TOO HOT to eat!! LOLNow that it is spring/summer, I no longer "pre-heat" the thermos, and it is still steaming. Liquid (like soup) will definitely stay hotter than other foods (like casserole, lasagna, rice and stir fry, etc) but these foods stay acceptably warm for 5-6 hours. The opening is large enough for me to fit my entire hand and wrist inside, which was a must for us...it has to be easy to clean! My husband's hand however does not fit inside. He never used the "spork" and he does find the metal hanging loop on the side to be "totally annoying" and has promised to cut it off a hundred times. (Hasn't happened yet). When it's full of liquid it is quite heavy and it seems like it would be very awkward if it were hanging from your backpack or something. Overall, I can't say enough good things about this product! I've been using it for about 6 months now. Looking forward to trying out some cold salads!

Wish I'd switched brands a long time ago!
I am so impressed with this thermos, compared to the Thermos brand one we suffered with for years. It has a wider mouth, comparatively, which means I no longer have to dislocate my thumb in order to wash it. It also does not have the nonstick lining that the Thermos brand had, which is GOOD, because the Thermos had a rubbery gasket inside, I guess where the nonstick connected to the steel body. This was an excellent place for food bits and smells to get stuck. The Stanley is pure steel, easy enough to clean, if you let it soak, when needed. But, the number 1 reason why I love this is because it keeps hot food HOT! Almost too hot. But I can handle that much better than worrying about possible food poisoning from my soup not staying warm until lunch. The only possible complaint I have is that the included spork is a bit hard to get out of the holder. It fits very tightly. It's a small and insignificant complaint.

Keeps food and liquids hot/warm!
This thermos does what it's intended--keep food liquids warm! I purchased the 24 oz jar to have ample space for storing soup and I'm glad I got this size as it's perfect size for a generous soup portion.I also wanted a larger size but shorter container and this fit exactly what I was looking for. I also used it to keep my water warm and it did a great job. My water remained a nice warm temp overnight into the next morning with the lid on. Container has double wall construction with a stainless steel outter and inner shell. No problems with rusting that I've noticed.Reasons for 4 star rating: After daily use for the last month, the inner lid (with the rubber seal) is getting difficult to close (screw on and off) and open, especially if you want a nice leak-proof closure. I also think given the size and shape of this container, a handle bar is needed. It's difficult to hold one handed and even harder to close and open the jar, especially with smaller hands.

Great Stanley food thermos
another great Stanley food jar. straight up, not crazy about the spork, should have just been a spoon, but whatever. the main part, is that it holds 2 cups of soup/chili/stew and keeps it hot all day. really nice to be able to store some dry stuff in the lid to go with the meal (tortillas for tortilla soup for instance)really happy with it
