Great, affordable watch, perfect for real world use cases
I'll preface this with I am currently an iPhone user, so Android users may have a slightly different experience when it comes to the app. I also currently have an Apple Watch Series 9 and I have a Garmin Fenix 7 Solar Sapphire that I use in certain situations. For various reasons, one of which is I was getting fatigued / overloaded with daily health stats that I was getting obsessed with and it was beginning to be detrimental to my wellbeing (trends are more important than the absolute number and also numbers on all smart wearable should be taken with a pinch of salt - for example, in general calories burned have a 20% error margin and some wearables overestimate calories by unto 60%), I wanted to move to a less intrusive, lighter and overall more 'dumb' smartwatch, but it did have to have multi-day battery and do certain things as a minimum. I had a much earlier version of this (I think Band 4) many years ago, which I liked, but at the time I wanted some of the features on offer from more advanced watches, so I replaced it with a series of other watches - so when I was looking for something to replace the Apple and Garmin as my daily driver this was an obvious choice over some of the other offerings and the price point was such that if I didn't like it, I wasn't too concerned about the cost.My typical daily use case (apart from time and date) is for tracking sleeping trends, counting steps, calorie burn, activity minutes, record activities, alarms, timers, weather at a glance, and general notification of calls and messages. I don't, on a daily basis, need the ability to navigate, reply to messages using a watch, need to track my HRV or SpO2, need to know my altitude, have to have access to cycling maps, hiking maps nor global offline maps, play games, have the ability to dive to 100m depth, or any other myriad of things my Apple and Garmin can do. So when considering my real-use case, this does everything I need, in a small, light, well built package with clean, crisp display and has solid battery life -- it ticks all the boxes. I also like that it is quite discreet on your wrist and doesn't look cheap nor garish. You can customise with different bands if you want. It does do more than I need, such as the ability to control my music on my phone (but my headphones and earphones have controls I use), customise watch faces (I like the default out of the box - 'stat block'), can track stress etc. but I don't really use these. It pairs with the app nicely and there is a good amount of control through the app and has enough detail to satisfy my needs and allows me to track trends. I like that I can toggle which apps I want to get notifications from, what on-watch 'apps' I want to use, what is displayed. My only issues with it so far, and there may be solutions or workarounds that I have not searched for are:1) Does not broadcast heart rate - so I can't sync it with my turbo trainer or bike computer for heads-up visibility - not an issue as I have a dedicated heart rate monitor strap2) When I receive calls, I only see the number, not the contact name3) Setting custom timers is a little clunky/fiddly - I think mainly as a result of my big hands/fingers4) Registering online for use with the app was a bit finicky, but nothing too difficult to resolve and could be a result of the VPN I useAt the end of the day, I usually have this on my wrist - it is smart enough for 99% of my daily needs, and is so light as to not be perceptible most of the time, unlike the Apple Watch and especially the Garmin Fenix which I am always aware of. It also has solid week plus battery life even with almost daily activity recording so no need to worry about charging daily. Apart from the cases outlined below, I have not once, since getting this watch, wanted to go back to daily driving my Apple or Garmin watches. When I am travelling in unfamiliar cities I switch to the Apple Watch for the on-wrist navigation/maps it offers (so I am not constantly taking my phone out of my pocket), and when I am cycling, hiking, surfing or partaking in other more rugged activities or going to be away from mobile phone signal then I switch to the Garmin Fenix which has all the offline maps and is able to take some serious abuse, but otherwise this is now my goto watch and I am very happy with it.

Worried it was not genuine, well it looks to be legit!
I've been looking into fitness bands from various brands as I have no had one previously, and the Xiaomi one caught my attention as a good starter fitness wearable where i'm not having to break the bank (£33 cost when I purchased it).On this item, I was concerned it was not a genuine Xiaomi band but it looks to be the real deal despite brand coming up on Amazon as "XAOTUDOU". Model number matches the description and what is written on the box, and online searches suggest it is the global model. On opening everything looked packaged securely and unopened previously. Nothing looked damaged. It came with 89% battery charge, charged to 100% very shortly after, successfully turning on, and setting it up.Setup with my S23 Ultra was quick, longest part is likely creating a Xiaomi account if you don't have one for Mi Fitness. Securely fits my wrist and is bright enough that I can see it despite a lot of background light.Happy there is no subscription to pay for services! Will update after i've tested this out for a while on how it performs.

Excellent budget smartwatch
Lovely bit of kit. Upgraded from a MiBand 6. Screen is bigger and brighter and works really well with the miFitness app. Battery life an impressive 2+ weeks

Brilliant device
This was bought as a replacement for a much more expensive Fitbit which was unreliable and complicated. This has been so much better. Very easy to use, with every sort of workout tracked if you want (swimming, Zumba, yoga for example). It tracks the route of your walks automatically if you choose the walking workout. The steps count seems very reliable, the interface user friendly and I never miss a call or text.

Long Battery life
I tried other smart watches, (cheaper), and it was a waste of money. I then went back to the smart band and it's amazing. Yes it does last for 21 days on a full charge, yes the screen is bright, and most of all has a lot of functions, useful ones. The watch bad is good and doesn't feel as though you've got it onNotification, weather messages, find your phone and play music all works well. App on the phone is also easy to navigate.

A present for a friend
I brought this as a present for someone who has been admiring my Mi Smart Band 8. I really like my band 8 so hopefully this slightly newer Band 9 will be just as good. I have not opened or tried it because it is for Christmas. However, based on this purchase and my own Band 8 I would very definitely recommend these watches. They are very solidly built and have good features and a good app. Replacement straps for both are easily and readily available, if you fancy a change. They are very competitively priced to.

Always go back to Xiaomi Mi Band!
I’ve been using the Xiaomi bands since the 6 version. In between, I’ve tried other brands and always go back to Xiaomi! I find it is the most accurate out of the budget friendly smart watches / fitness trackers, and also the most user friendly. The notification strength is noticeable unlike some other brands I’ve tried. I also love that it has a slim face as I have skinny wrists. However, the display is still very prominent. I bought a different strap as it is softer and more secure. Very easy to pair via Bluetooth. Download the MiFitness app, pair with it and it is done in a few minutes. All in all, I’m really glad I’ve gone back to the 9 version!

Not 'Smart' - doesn't support imperial units
The 'Smart' Band 9 and the associated app are not very smart at all because they don't allow you to use imperial units. I shall be returning the Band 9 and asking for a refund.
