The modes and instructions are a bit confusing.....
The toothbrush is very high quality and does a great job at cleaning teeth. Where it falls down, in my eyes anyway, is in the instruction pamphlet. I believe it's intended to cater for international users, regardless of language, and for all different versions of IO toothbrushes. The main pamphlet has some very confusing diagrams, as well as some fairly obvious ones; such as to look at the side of the packaging to see what modes are available in the Series 3. Unfortunately, there is nothing at all on the side of the packaging, so I looked elsewhere. A card is included specifically for the IO Series 3 which in one diagram shows three modes (correct) and below shows under a heading "Customize", four modes. If there is the ability to customize it, I haven't found it. When started up, there is no indication of which mode the toothbrush is in, you have to gauge the sound. There is nothing in the instructions to say what happens to the mode when you switch off - does it revert to mode 1, or does it start up in the mode you were using when you switched it off? There were different answers in various sites online. So, I contacted Oral B and they confirmed that the last mode used is the mode selected when starting up again. Beware if you see that the toothbrush can be reset by pressing the power button for 10 seconds - it just goes off and cannot be switched on again unless you place it back in the charger! I was informed that reset should not be used and would never be required. Also that it is not a travel lock, the series 3 does not have one. Furthermore, you may see online that it can connect to the Oral B app - it can't as it hasn't got Bluetooth, but that is most certainly not a negative for me. Having said all that, the toothbrush works extremely well. I have delicate gums so used mode 2 (gentle) and it cleaned my teeth really well, the feeling that I get after a visit to the hygienist. It is far more thorough than a manual brush, and was very kind to my gums. To be fair, I soon got to recognise which mode was which, but it would help enormously if there was some form of indication on the brush as to which mode was in use. This was explained to me that not every toothbrush in their range can have the same facilities, otherwise there would be no price range - and I get that. It needn't be fancy, just a graphic would do. But, once used to the brush, such things wouldn't be an issue. All-in-all, this is a great toothbrush and I got it at a great price from Amazon (way below the RRP), so I will forgive Oral B for the poor instructions enclosed and just enjoy having very clean teeth. Highly recommended.

100% recommend this product
I ordered this toothbrush for my partner for Christmas last year and it’s almost a year on and it’s just as new. It’s the best toothbrush and the charge lasts longer than I had thought. You can change the vibration / speed to what you like, it’s great value for money and makes your teeth feel super clean after use

Good toothbrush, price and delivery
The toothbrush is good, very pleased with the price and delivery. Not so happy about registering for the extended warranty, which, whenever I try, it fails. Let's hope I don't need to use the warranty. Also on the not so good list, which is now starting to rack up. As mentioned by others, you cannot see the mode you're using as the toothbrush handle does not illuminate the mode. I'm not too fussed as I'm happy with the mode I'm using. Also, it doesn't cut out after 2 minutes (which I'm sure I read it was supposed to). Another also, having charged it before I used it, I expected to get more than 2 weeks before recharging and yet today, I'm charging it again. Hmm, not so sure that even at just over £50 this is going to turn out to be a great purchase. That all said, it does a good job and I do like the light on the handle that tells me if I'm pressing too hard.

Great electric toothbrush. Cleaning is a joy now!
Excellent electric toothbrush. Best one I’ve ever used. Love the flashy lights too! My gums feel much better as it has three settings to include gentle, sensitive mode. Enjoy cleaning my teeth more than ever!

Gentler, Quieter and detail Cleaner The IO3 Experience
After years with the Pro series, switching to the IO3 was a fantastic move. The difference is immediate: it's noticeably quieter and far gentler on my teeth and gums, yet provides a superior clean without any gimmicks. A couple of practical tips: remember to buy a 2-pin to 3-pin UK plug adapter for charging, as it doesn't come with one. Also, the brush is longer than most, so it may not fit in a standard bathroom cabinet. I leave mine on its charging dock. For the price, it's an excellent brush with great battery life and pure, effective cleaning power. Highly recommended.

Finally I’ve found a good toothbrush, my teeth feels dentist clean and whiter!
Upgrading from my Oral B Pro I did abit of research, I’m not the toothbrush expert but just really wanted to say that this toothbrush is the best one I've ever purchased, highly recommend it. Honestly, my teeth feels dentist clean due to the new i03 high quality build and powerful mechanism. It will be the only toothbrush you'll need for the next 2+ years! Tempted by many cheaper E-toothbrushes on Amazon with great reviews I decided to stick with Oral B. My sister who is a dental nurse recommended the io3 or above as the io2 is not as powerful. The io4 and above comes with Bluetooth and lights to indicate modes but says the mechanism is most likely to be the same as io3. So for me the io3 is the best value for money. As Oral B owns the patent for the circular motion which effectively cleans your teeth like the dentists, no back and forth brushing is needed as the powerful head does it all for you, I've found the sensitivity mode works the best for my teeth. Just takes a bit of time getting used to holding the brush at an 45° angle then moving it tooth to tooth. I don't write many reviews but I've been looking for a good toothbrush for a while as I brush my teeth 2-3 times per day my teeth feels cleaner and whiter, so I can't recommend this enough! Trust me you won’t regret it, best self care product I’ve bought this year!

Good at cleaning teeth but seems to have gone backwards in other respects
Seems to clean teeth well enough but there are irritations. I clean my teeth with a standard brush head and then use the interdental head afterwards. Doing this the battery only last 3 - 4 cleans before it is flat (red flashing power button), which is awful and seems even worse than the precious Oral-B I had. The provided charger is only 0.9 watts and so charging takes ages. Generally, all the Oral-b electric toothbrushes I have used have appalling battery life - no point taking them on holiday without a charger. Please, please provide a bigger battery! Although the toothbrush appears to support different modes of brushing, there is no indication provided to tell you which mode you are in - which makes having modes fairly pointless. Also, as with all Oral-B brush heads, original replacements are ridiculously expensive and since they have changed the head design again, it is not always possible to be get third party compatible , especially for the interdental brushes. I am sure if Oral-B lowered their brush head prices they would sell more and look a lot less than they were fleecing their customers. With the previous brush heads, they would stand up on their base when not in use. The new design do not stand up on their end and so have to be put flat with the bristles, resting on the sink - not very hygienic
