Ubk90 4 k bd player
Received today only 1 day late. The bd arrived very well packed so no issues with that. The picture quality is great with Dolby vision Hdr. The drive is as quiet as a mouse so no problem with that. My player arrived with a new bigger remote compaired to the ubk80 which is the same except the 90 has Netflix. Only one little problem. My player arrived with a european 2 pin mains plug which I have had to change for a uk one. Not a problem to me but could be for others. A 2 pin adapter is available though. Suggest contacting Amazon about this before ordering. This is a first rate bd 4K player and I am completely satisfied with the purchase. I have given this player five stars.

Great First Impression
A while back I replaced a failing Blu Ray Player with a relatively cheap one (not LG). it did the job but having since upgraded to a 4K LG TV and an Atmos surround sound system the old player was creaking a bit so decided to stay with LG for a new 4k Blu Ray Player. So far I have been pleased with my purchase. The first impression was it was somewhat bigger and heavier than expected. Whether that's a good thing I don't know but a little weight seems to help the perception of quality and it is a lot heavier than the one it replaced. Being male I took it out of the box, plugged it in and turned everything on. All worked as expected so then thought about reading the instructions - except there aren't any. Not even a Quick Start Guide. I resorted to the internet and found them on the LG site but they would not download. Eventually downloaded from an independent web site. All 72 pages. In addition to playing discs this player has the relatively common feature of running online apps. The two installed are YouTube and Netflix. They both work OK but to be honest, these days it is normal for A/V kit to be able to run these apps and I have them on the TV, my Sky Q box and an Apple TV box so gain nothing. Unusually, although the player has a net connection there does not seem to be a way of downloading any other apps, not that I want any but a surprising omission. It is convenient for me to use ethernet for the web connection but the player can also work with wi-fi. The player, unusually, has two HDMI sockets on the rear. One which can send video and audio, the other only audio for a A/V receiver. I have a SONOS sound bar which has one feed so my setup is a single HTMI to the LG TV and then an HTMI audio feed from TV to sound bar. First test with normal Blu Ray disc was quite impressive. The combination of the player upscaling to 4k and the great picture generated from the TV worked really well. Since then I have bought some Ultra HD discs and have been really impressed with the results. It was also noticeable that the player turns on and gets ready to play a lot quicker than my old one. This item would easily be a 5 star purchase with the only thing letting it down being the lack of a user guide or an easy on line link to get one when the full guide does exist. Hence the four stars. Only read the next bit if you use a universal control system such as Harmony One snag I have found which can be a problem with a lot of kit these days is the CEC-HTMI (Simplink) system. This should enable control of all devices connected to the TV via one remote. While this works to a degree I have never found it perfect as there are always buttons on one remote which are not available on the others so I use a Harmony control system for all my kit. Harmony has worked well for many years but the snag is that some controls on kit such as ON/OFF buttons are "toggles". I.e. if it's ON pressing the button turns OFF. If it's OFF a press turns ON. Harmony works by its software remembering which kit is ON or OFF when it sends commands but of course it does not know if a command has been sent by a different remote If Harmony "knows" an item is OFF and wants it ON it sends an ON signal when required but if it knows it is already ON it does not send that signal. That works ok unless a signal has been given from another source, for example a user pressing a button on the player remote to turn it OFF or the TV turning the player OFF via Simplink. Harmony still thinks it is ON so sends a signal to turn it off but as it is already OFF the signal turns it back ON. The obvious answer is disable Simplink on the TV but I am still finding that in some situations the TV is still controlling the player. I don't think this is a LG problem, just a result of differing systems interacting.

Great product
Great picture quality, disc loads quickly. I play it through a sound bar and get great surround sound with my dvds. Haven't tried it yet with either Blu Ray or UHD discs but if the ordinary dvds are anything to go by then l would expect the performance with the higher grade ones to be superb.

good uhd player
Good player easy to set up. Plays well. Wifi easy to set up, but limited links to outside providers. Netflix but no Amazon prime which was on my previous BD player. Now over £1000, someones having a laugh, I paid £180 for it

Skipped or stop for a few second upto 4 time per film when playing UHD
So I watch a few udh blu-rays and it skipped or stop for a few seconds about 4 time per film. Once it just hang and I had to power it off and FF to where I was. I little digging lots of people report the same issue. So I sent it back. Also future poor.

Returned.
Easy to use but I was disappointed with how basic the picture and sound options are. Upscaling wasn’t great but the reason I returned it was due to there being a high pitched electrical sound when selecting dts sound. Have now bought a Sony X700 which offers a lot more options and the sound is excellent.

Great device. Works fine on 3d Blu-Rays
Great. Needed a no-nonsense solution for 3d Blu-Ray playback, having been let down by my Windows PC which oddly despite mucking around with settings no longer plays them back due probably to Windows Updates or nVidia drivers - Also wanted something that would support 4k disc playback. Great device - fast to load Blu-Rays too. Great. The matt black finish and lack of display on the front makes it look a bit cheap though.

Very good Dolby Vision player for the price
Switched to the LG UBK90 after having trouble with a Panasonic 4k player. Purchased mainly for the dolby vision as our TV was dolby vision compatible. Other player would not play half the dolby vision discs we own correctly. This LG plays all the 4k dolby discs perfectly. Along with normal 4k uhd discs. Very basic design, little on the flimsy side. Picture generally very good, sound was fine. 4k upscaling looked good. Had some issues with pal 50hz dvds when player was set to 24fps. Had to change the setting on the player which solved the playback issue. Smart apps are restricted to Netflix (again p on sys on dolby vision) and YouTube. Region B / 2 locked. Very happy for the price.
