A good tool to keep other tools and knives sharp.
I have read several reviews of this sharpener and its coarser 400/1000 grit counterpart. I don’t get most of the negative reviews. It works well. The weight of the base is adequate for common size knives. It works as it should. The price is reasonable.

Perfect entry-level stone
I hate throwing away used utility razor blades. I know the razor blades aren't very expensive, but it would be nice to get more use out of them. I tried using an arkansas stone. I don't really know what the grit on those is, but it wasn't working for me. I got this diamond sharpening stone, which has a 400 and 1000 grit surface. Getting the angle right, especially on fiddly small utility blades is challenging. I ended up leaving the blade in the handle and just sharpening half the blade. The 1000 grit side did a great job. I'm not an expert sharpener, but I was able to get a burr and after working it off with some stropping, the blade is sharper than out of the pack. I like how the base of the sharpener "sticks" to the table surface even though it's not sticky.

perfect setup for sharpening chisels and knives while watching television
Sharpening the edges of tools and knives is a tedious task. The honing guide on this device makes it easy to sharpen while watching television, no attention required. All of my chisels are sharp as heck and cut to the proper angle for woodworking.

Best I've had for the cost.
I've had this stone about a year. I have zero complaints, the grits are durable and the plastic base holds the stone securely. The four rubber feet keep it from sliding in use. Perfect for kitchen, utility knives, hatchets, etc. A great deal for the money and I expect it to last me many more years.

Amazing set
I have chisels and plane blades that desperately needed sharpening. I've tried the sand paper method but as most of us we can't hold things at a proper angle so the sharpening gets messed up.. The guide that comes with this is great.. 1 complaint though... The gap they put in it makes it hard to hold chisels flat since many chisels have a weird almost octagonal shape. Would be better if the inside of it was just flat so it could hold just the sides of the blade. Otherwise this set is awesome. The holding tray is plastic. so use like a silicone mat or something under it to prevent slipping.. All in all. They work, and they work great. I was so happy with it I even bought their high grit plates

Mine wasn't flat
Not sure how so many people give this stone such a high rating unless I just got a bad one. I got this for faster initial forming of the primary bevel for sharpening new chisels. The problem arose when I moved on to my finer diamond hones and found the bevel I had just formed was cupped. Got out a flashlight and straightedge to check and this stone has a significant crown right down the center of the long axis on both sides. It does sharpen like a diamond stone should, just isn't flat like it should be.

First impressions: works well, having two grits is nice
Overall: great bang for your buck. A coworker of mine uses this stone to sharpen his knives. I just sharpened one of my fillet knives and it works well. Other comments question the true grit of the stone which I understand, it feels a bit more coarse than advertised UNTIL YOU WET IT. I will update if and when the Diamond Grit wears out as other reviews comment that it wears out quick. Last note: I will mainly be using this Stone to hone/touch up my knives while using them (to clean fish) I have another Smith's three-sided stone that I use when more work is needed on the blade. This diamond Stone looks more professional when cleaning a customers catch.

Bought this to replace an old wet stone knife sharpener, I find it easy to sharpen the knives.

Funktioniert wie beschrieben. Ich schärfe meine Messer immer 1 mal im Monat und damit werden die richtig scharf, natürlich muss man den Dreh raus haben aber ich bin zufrieden.

It is absolutely unbelievable how good this is for the price. From a basic whet stone to this is a massive jump and very much worth it
