Q: Can you turn lights off or are they always on?

The lights are not powered by the speaker wires, but by separate 12 volt wires. Therefore you can hook the lights up to a switch with a fuse which is what I did, and would recommend.

Q: Is the led light just red, or does it have different colors? does it need the remote for the lights?

It has three wires for the LEDs. You can hardwire a single color or purchase separate controller for multiple colors and sequences of fading or pulsing. Kicker makes a controller or you can use an aftermarket brand

Great sound quality.

Just installed on my boat today paired with a kicker head unit and kicker amp. I thought I was going to need more than 2 of these speakers but man I was wrong. The amp really helps and will blow your ears if you turn it all the way up. The sound quality is still there when it is turned up too. Great product.
