A very thin book written by someone who seems to be pre-occupied with on-line escapism - is this the author or someone he knows? Amateurish and not an Ultimate Guide by any means.

While I do not personally have Avoidant Personality Disorder, someone very close to me does – and I want to learn more about it; what it really is, how it affects her, how it could affect us, and how to overcome it – if such a thing even possible. Clayton Geoffreys’s “Avoidant Personality Disorder” guide offers vital and invaluable insight into this often misunderstood disorder. Avoidant Personality Disorder, also known as AvPD is more than just one thing, in fact, the title encompasses a range of disorders – and this guide talks about them all. From what they are, what defines them, what causes it and common symptoms. There is information to be had in here for anyone that deals with AvPD or knows someone with it. With easy to understand language and open examples, this guide left me with a feeling of, not only understanding – but of hope. There are things we can do, steps to take - and a new path to travel.

This book is exactly what I want to read and recommend to my son to read because of what his wife (my daughter-in-law) is behaving. In the book it gives a lot of helpful information.

Junk publishing by someone with no expertise.

This book isn't worth your time. Or your money, for that matter. The writing is cringeworthy, as is the dearth of citations. Save your money and read the Wikipedia entry instead.

I was originally interested in this topic because of a psychology class I took. I found the book very informative as I read it, and began to realize that some one in my family may very well be suffering from Avoidant Personality Disorder. One of my sisters rarely leaves the house, and there have been several times when we have gotten her outside that she has had a full on panic attack. I read through this book to learn as much about this condition as I could so that I could help her through these problems and help the rest of my family understand what was going on with her. This book has been a life saver for my family and I, and if your in a situation where you know someone who may have this condition I recommend reading it, it can make a difference in your lives as well.
