This is a great powered PA speaker. Tried it for the first time in a jam (we play heavy stuff) and we could hear jam tracks between 2 guitars playing pretty loud!

I've tried a few of these portable AC-powered portable PA/monitor/music speakers with built-in amplifiers and near as I can tell, this is the best one in it's price-range/class. QUALITY: Right out of the box it looks nice. There's something about the fit & finish, and the layout of the controls, the design of the enclosure, even the packaging that communicates good quality. Everything is crisp. The lettering, the definition of the angles of the enclosure, everything is nice and clean and feels high quality. LOOKS: The front of the speaker has a very nice, back-illuminated logo. ENCLOSURE: The speaker has a handle built-into the design of the enclosure on the top to carry the speaker by, but the speaker vents on the sides (or top & bottom if using the speaker horizontally) are also handles. Horizontally is how I will primarily be orienting the speaker, and when set on a flat surface the speaker's face is angled up slightly, the same angle as a floor monitor. Perfect. The control panel, which is on the rear of the speaker, is well laid out. The speaker is fairly heavy. I attribute this to good quality internals, big magnets on the speakers, lots of heavy capacitors, etc., rather than the manufacturer just adding weight-plates to make it feel heavy & substantial. SOUND & POWER: The sound is average, typical for speakers of this type. It includes bass & treble controls, along with the standard volume and pre-amp gain controls, and they work quite well. The manufacturer advertises 100 watts RMS. I think that figure is optimistic. During testing the most I could get it to pull at peak was about 70 watts. That translates to somewhere near 35 watts of output. There is an LED indicator on the control panel on the rear which illuminates if the amplifier detects clipping (distortion caused by overloading the amplifier components). It never lit while I was using it. My power figure estimate is based on this being a class AB amp (why they didn't go with a class D I can only guess) and average Class AB amp efficiency is ~ 50%. The manufacturer claims 102db @ 1watt/1meter. That is a pretty efficient rating (it's a rating of the speaker, not the amplifier). I was able to get the speaker to put abut 110db @ 1w/1m. Maybe it could do more with the right audio source CONCLUSION: This speaker is much better, I figure twice as good, as the similar speaker from it's nearest rival, a firm whose name rhymes with mile. For the money it seems like quite a piece of hardware. When you consider the cost of portable Bluetooth speakers (this speaker supports Bluetooth, SD card, RCA line in, 3.5mm line in, USB, XLR, & 1/4" inputs. It even has an FM radio.), this is a lot of speaker with a lot of capabilities. Considering it has a 10" woofer with separate tweeter and the various functions (albeit without battery power), this is quite a lot of hardware for the money. This speaker comes with a remote control and supports XLR line-level output. Good looks, good quality, good performance, good sound, good feature set, and easy to use, this speaker is a smart choice.

First, I use this instead of a portable Bluetooth speaker in my backyard and NOT as a PA speaker. My yard backs up to a fairly busy road and even though I have a large wall the noise is noticeable when busy. Coupled with the kids and dogs and general goings-on of a busy yard, none of the portable speakers we have tried have been loud enough to contend. This thing is. And then some. In fact I will say in comparison it is comically loud. I typically set the volume around 3-4 and use the volume adjustment of my phone to fine-tune it while streaming. As someone else recommended, I set the bass fairly low and the treble high and the sound quality is really good. I did try adjusting the settings differently a few times and tested max volume max bass etc... but completely overkill. At max volume it would be a nuisance to my entire neighborhood. There are a few downsides but for me they are far outweighed by the positives. 1. Bass performance is not great. Not only does it not lack a great lunch, but even moderate bass is questionable at louder volumes. 2. Bluetooth is inconsistent. I typically keep my phone within a few feet. Some days it works from 50’ away, some days it gets choppy at 10. Never anything major. Occasionally it won’t pair, flip the power off/on and it pairs again in two seconds. 3. Remote was/is garbage. This doesn’t bother me since I don’t rely on it. However if you needed to use the remote I fear you would be disappointed. Many reviews seem to say the same. As far as I am concerned, this serves me extremely well and I am beyond satisfied. For the cost this is hands down the best speaker I’ve ever purchased, what it lacks in portability is more than compensated in function. 5 stars for value. I originally gave it 4 stars because of the bass and remote, but I’m going to change it because for the price I don’t see how you could expect better. I’m no expert in PA systems but I understand that they don’t deliver bass the same way a similar 12” sub would for a car audio system so I don’t consider it a detriment and honestly I think the remote is functional just not fantastic.

Sound is loud and crisp with the option to adjust the EQ’s for treble and bass on the back. You also have several different connection options, you can use either Bluetooth, RCA, auxiliary, 1/4 inch or XLR cables for line in and it has an output XLR to connect another speaker. Overall I’m happy with my purchase, it’s made in the U.S(New York), and it’s the best price you’ll find for a speaker at this level of quality. Highly recommend if you just can’t afford spending $500+ to upgrade your sound.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Great speaker with tons of input options! Sonically, this speaker sounds great on the high, mid, and low end. Packs a lot of punch and doesn’t disappoint! For a budget speaker, it presents itself with a large sound that’s clean and plenty powerful. With a built in equalizer, you can tone it to your desired sound. It also has a clipping indicator so you can adjust it, making sure to not damage the speaker. With a background in music, both studio recording and live performances, this is a well built, durable speaker that’s loud, powerful, and will perform well in a medium sized venue by itself.
