Paul Rogers ... but not as we know it.
I confess a soft spot for this album that a friend taped for me when it came out. It jumped in a few places and I must have wiped it, but not before the music wormed its way into my long term memory. I bought the CD last week - that's about 30 years later - and realised that I still knew every note (except for the jumps!) No, it's not the debut album or Straight Shooter but those albums are still around to listen to, if that's what you really want. For me the songs on Rough Diamonds are strong, there are some great hooks and the production sounds great. There's very little of the 'eighties sound' to put me off and I much prefer it to the late seventies Bad Company albums which I've never been able to listen to. It's great to hear Paul Rogers' voice in a different context.

Has to be the weakest of all the Bad Company albums
Has to be the weakest of all the Bad Company albums. It's flaws show themselves both lyrically and on the production side. Worst track has to be Painted Face - awful lyrics which are not even complete with Paul Rodgers doing a la-la-la bit halfway through. Best track is the opener, Electric Land.

Great Company
Well, there are a couple of poor ratings for this album, and granted, it's not as good as Straight Shooter, as that particlar album was seminal, but this is still fantastic, with Roger's soaring, powerful vocals and fab guitars . I loved it in 82 and still moving it in 2017.
