Q: What type of steel are they forged from?

I think they are a high carbon steel. but im not certain. they needed a fair bit of fettling up before I honed them first time, and it is definatly a harder steel which has a coating, so as to keep them free from the usual rust you get with high carbon steel if you let them get moisture for a length of time. they have held the edge well, even as ive been using them on hard wood doors and frames over the last few weeks constantly.

Q: Hi do these chisels come with blade guards?

Yes. They each have a decent plastic cover that covers the entire blade and also has a belt hook.
