A True Instant Camera with Classic Film Feel & Modern Features
I purchased the Fujifilm Instax Mini 99 as a Christmas gift for my wife, and it has been a fantastic purchase. We’ve always loved Fujifilm cameras and have never really had a bad experience with them, and this model is no exception. Build Quality & Design The matte black finish gives it a premium feel, and it still has that classic instant camera design that makes film photography so enjoyable. Unlike some of Fujifilm’s other models, which allow digital previews before printing, this one stays true to the old-school instant camera experience, relying on exposure and film alone—which is exactly what makes instant photography so unique and detailed. Ease of Use & Features Despite having modern enhancements, the camera remains very easy to use. It comes with five shooting modes (Normal, Indoor, Sports, Double Exposure, and Bulb), as well as a built-in self-timer and flash control, which adds a lot of creative flexibility. My wife specifically wanted a film-based Instax with more control options, and this model delivers with: Adjustable brightness levels for more exposure control 6 color effect settings to enhance different moods Macro and Landscape modes to capture both close-ups and distant shots Battery Life So far, the battery life has been solid, lasting through multiple film packs without needing frequent recharging. It’s been used practically every day, and we haven’t had any major issues with power. Fun to Use & Value for Money This camera is a blast to use, whether you’re a beginner or a longtime film lover. The double exposure mode alone makes it worth considering, as it allows for more creative shots than standard Instax cameras. My only real complaint is the price—almost $200 is steep—but considering the new features and build quality, it makes sense. Final Thoughts If you’re looking for an instant camera that captures the essence of film photography while still offering modern shooting options, this is a perfect choice. Whether you’re new to cameras or a longtime film user, the Instax Mini 99 is an excellent addition to any collection. 5 stars—highly recommended!

so much fun!!
i love this camera so much! i love how much customization there is for the pictures, and how square and slim the design is compared to some of the other instax mini cameras. i really love having the option to turn the flash off. i like the all black design & i think it would be fun if eventually they came out with other colors, like their pastel cameras but in darker shades. the quality feels very nice, it's lightweight without feeling super cheap. there's so much room for creativity with it!!

Great camera, NOT for beginners, a bit pricey
The camera itself is great. It offers a lot of versatility for photographers that know what they're doing. I, however, am not photographers that know what they're doing. The exposure settings are a little confusing, and you really have to just mess around to see what works, which can be rather expensive. So many photos came out either underexposed or overexposed and there's so many settings that affect it, it can be annoying trying to get it *just* right. The "light" effects are also not very useful. I got a total of 1 shots with it that looked good, though that photo is probably one of the best I've taken. I tried to do a lot of night photography, which the camera isn't really made for (it's a weak point of film in general), which resulted in a lot of wasted film, as photos came out gravely underexposed, borderline pitch-black. After doing some research, the camera's "bulb" mode, where it keeps the aperture open for up to 10 seconds, is great for night photography. I learned quickly, however, that a tripod is NECESSARY for bulb mode(when using it for night photography, at least), unless you want your photos to come out a smeared mess. While the Mini 99 offers a lot of room to grow, I'm not sure I can recommend it in good faith. Certainly not to a beginner. If you absolutely know what you're doing, this camera is excellent, and is a joy to shoot for photographers of any skill level. However, other cameras in the Fujifilm Instax line are much more beginner friendly, and even if you're looking for a more luxury option, Lomo'Instant cameras offer that at still a cheaper price point, often with an "auto" feature that helps them still be beginner friendly. A friend let me shoot her Instax Mini 7S for a week, and I must say, what it lacks in features, it makes up for in useability and accessibility. I fear I'll likely be returning my Mini 99 for either one of the more simple Fujifilm Instax cameras, or even a Lomo'Instant.

Love this as a successor to the Neo90
I was devastated when my Neo90 stopped working, but saw that this new model was coming out. It has all the same features and more. I love that it is still completely analog, unlike the Evo. I think my favorite improvement is that the lightness of the photo can be adjusted. I've found that adjusting it lighter when taking photos indoors helps improve the photo significantly. Without it, and if you use flash, the background often becomes very dark compared to the people. But having the ability to adjust this helps a lot! I don't really use the color filter options, I find it kind of gimmicky, but it's nice to have the option. One thing I found a little annoying is that the color and lightness dials are a little too easy to change. Sometimes if I've had it in my bag or it's been passed around, I won't notice that the color dial has been turned, and my photo will come out with the green filter which I didn't want. Always double check the dials are correct before taking the photo. I also like that you can adjust the lens to 3 different distances (It tells you the distance ranges when you turn the lens to turn on the camera). Very helpful. Love the clean classic camera look. Wish it came in different colors like the Neo90 did, but overall a great succesor to the Neo90.

I cannot in good conscience recommend anybody purchase any fujifilm instax cameras. I was under the assumption, as any reasonable person might be, that the camera would come with a few sample pieces of film. 2,3, maybe 5 pieces? SOMETHING. Not to mention there’s no clear mention anywhere in the item description that you get no film at all in this package. Are companies seriously this cheap now that they want to nickle and dime their customers every which way they can? Look elsewhere, do not support fujifilm.
